Yes. Afterwards, when LTTE realized that the other partners of ELNF are gaining more recognition they eliminated one by one.Now only LTTE is there and poor tamilians have no alternative but to support LTTE otherwise they will also be eliminated. On the top of it, the Lanka government also by its shortsightedness, forcing the tamilians to go to LTTE by indiscriminate attacks on them under the guise of war.

Hisotrically there were 3 kingdoms in Sri Lanka in which atleast 2 were dominated by Tamils but 1 of that was ruled by sinhalas along with sinhala dominated kingdom.
Dating further back the northern sinhala, southern lanka, and central trikuta tribal-land were the 3 Tamil Kingdoms. Only tamils lived there.
Even according to lankan local legend mahavamsha, socalled sinhalas came around 500 BC (2500 years before) originating from mahanada empire (todays oriya) and price vijaya brought them here.
The minority face to 'tamils' was given very recent by sinhala hardcores. even during britsih tamils made around 40% of the population.
1505 Portuguese arrive in Ceylon during the existence of three sovereign kingdoms, one Tamil-based in Jaffna, and two Sinhalese-based in Kotte and Kandy.
1619 Tamil sovereignty ends when Portuguese defeats the Tamil king and annex the Jaffna kingdom.
1796 British arrive in Ceylon. 1802 Ceylon becomes a British Crown Colony.

Thanks for sharing the information.Rightly said...the history is not known to many including me.
Next , it is very dificult to lay of arms after getting to know the power and having ti in thier hands. Tamil elam cause will never be able to realise with guns in thier hands. They will be treated as terrorist and nothing else(Just as the case of kashmiri militants). Who suffers the most.It is the ordinary tamil people...What I feel is that the LTTE should lay of their arms and negotiate with the major power of the world (US) as the arbitrator and settle the issue...IT WILL BE THE BEST THING FOR TAMIL (OUR) PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUFFERED SO MUCH IN ALL THESE YEARS.

Dear Kumar what about the SInhala fanatics who started all these since independence. The various discriminatory policies since independence to systematically discriminate isolate amd marginalise the Tamil population has reulted in this. These policis were made to make the Tamil peo[ple uneducated by denying them higher education. stop them from obtaining employment. The ISnhlas stil seem to be citing aboht employment statistics during British times. ( during the British times the Sinhlas were never interested in education ) Currently Tamil hold less than 1% in gove jobs and are hardly found in the Armed forces or Police. Tmail is ony an official language in paper. However if try to conduct business in Tamil . You are met with hostility and stres with erude replies like there is no one to deal with you in Tamil. The other excuse given by the Rajapakse government was there is not enough Tamil speakers and Tamil typwriters( why what is stopping them recruiting Tamil speakers and purchasing Tamil typewriters) . Tamils lands have been systamaticallybeen colonise dsince independence and many Sinhlas crimminals and thughs were orginally settled there fully armed by the government toterrrise the indegenous Tamil population and chase them away. All non viloent protests were only met with violence against the Tamils with Buddhist preists and politicians leading the fray. The LTTE came much later and is a product of the genocidal SInhala policies. LTTE is using the same policies that

Sri Lankan government uses but are not condemend by th einternation community. alomst 90% of teh 90000 people kille d in theis conflict are Tamil civilians killed by the Sri Lankan government. Even yesterday a bus carrying school children was detroyed by the Sri Lankan Army ( the rediff is very quiet about this) and around 20 people killed and 14 injured . this was reported by teh BBC . The Sri Lankan government would have rported these deaths as LTTE killed . THey are bombing and killing many Tamil civilians( as to them every Tamil is LTTE) . The native EElam Tamils ahve every right to ask for a seperate country and no one has a rignt to stop them . They have lived in their land and reuld themselves for most of thoer history . If Kosovo Quebec and East Timor and BanglaDesh can gain independence citing teh same reason. The EElam Tamils cannto be denied this right for strategic and selfich reasons by certain world powers. A government when it stops representing al its citizens and openly favours certain section of the population and uses genocidal force to supress the othes ceases to represent them . Tha tis the Un charter. We do no want HIndu fanatics coming here and making unqualified racist statement. SOt your problems in India and do not make the Eelam Tamil shwo have nothing to with you lot the scape goats.
