who are the customers
by Ganesh B on Jan 30, 2008 04:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Police should check the Doctor's customer list. Where are the kidneys sold? Who in India can afford kidney transplant? Is the market US and other developed countries? Otherwise, why did the doctor escape to Canada?

I Have No Sympathy
by Jimm on Jan 30, 2008 12:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have no sympathy on people who have sold their kidneys. They have been paid for it and with their full consent. I do not think anybody who sellsdonate one of their kidney compromise much with their day to day life or routine. They will be as normal as they before. But one should remember sellingdonating one kidney will give rebirth to another one, the most precious thing a human being can do in his life.. Now this is the time we should think about legalising it.

Jimm, if the 'donation' is done knowingly whether as a financial transaction or with the idea of helping another humna being, it's a different story altogether. Here, prima facie, it seems that Dr. Amit duped these patients and removed their kidneys without their consent. He seems to have used persuasive means only avail. to a Dr. to remove their kidneys. That is definitely unethical, immoral, and downright criminal.

Kidney racket kingpin
by randeep arora on Jan 30, 2008 12:06 PM  Permalink

Friends, I personally feel that when a patient needs a kidney, he does every possible effort to buy a kidney for himself. He generally brings the donor himself by paying the amount committed. Unfortunately, once the transplant is done either the patient does not pay the balance amount or the donor reports the matter to the police but the doctor becomes the main victim. The doctor must also be wrong but i guess the reports are much more exaggerated. Hundreds of transplants cannot be done like this. Our trial system generally puts all the pending blame on the person who is on the news and people just follow it without knowing the details behind it.
