you should also read the sydney morning herald article that lambasted the caste based selection policy in indian cricket. Before you jump, it had inputs from people like kanishka balachandran, harsha bhogle etc.,

aaa.. you were the guy who said that hinduism and islam is a religion of the past... then why do you quote from the past?
RE:Ismail...

you can argue till the cows come home about there is no discrimination in hindus.
I doubt it. in the past people from a caste can do a certain job. This was the doctrine and no matter what anyone does he can't change his destiny which is decided right at the time of his/her birth.
Acceptance is the first reasonable thing to do for change to happen.

it is not only wrt to hinduism. all the major world religions fail to live upto the bill.

If it helps in anyway, I, as a muslim would like to say that - Islam is the the only religion that made sense and worked for me. Other religions were difficult for my limited intellect to grasp. And I do not doubt the sincerity of those who follow other religions. I do not doubt that they derive spiritual benefit from it. I have seen it in sincere Hindus, Christians and Buddhists. Heck, I have also seen sincere athiests whose spirituality I do not doubt. Spirituality, for me, is about the integrity of the human being as a whole - his conscience, intentions, words and actions. I do not measure spirituality from words alone. I will also add that the greatest trails of being a muslim for me have been the attitude of muslims themselves.
I hope the above helps a little bit in creating some room in your mind to accomodate a feeble good opinion of a muslim when you encounter one in your life. At the end of all this discussion, what I pray for is that we do not harbour ill feelings by default against adherents of another faith. To me, that is of utmost importance than what one thinks of islam.
Islam has been put under the microscope of dissension, abuse and slander by intolerant, shameless and fanatical anti-Islamists since the advent of the Final Revelation fourteen centuries ago. Today is no different and the denigration has found a new battle field on the internet. Contrastingly, Islam has grown amidst such questions in the past fourteen centuries to command humungous following.
Whenever Islam has stood to be questioned, Islam has answered; and answered convincingly and admirably to all those who question it; may they be polemics or apologists, seekers of truth or malicious swindlers. Islam's true awareness has spread even further and beyond on the spur of such questions to which Islam itself responds admirably. Time has testified to this fact.

Don't preach us, my brother. Bharat was the true melting pot of the world talking about 'brotherhood of mankind' when other people were walking around with their holy book in one hand and a sword in the other to coerce them into their religion. Hindus accepted muslims, parsis, jews, africans, our far east brothers as a natural way of life. Now they have reached the limits of their tolerance. All their six senses tell them to fight for justice, and their rights. If you still want to persist with propagandist attitudes, you shld go live in a country that agrees with you. But if you get in the way of the majority here, YOU will be digging your grave pretty soon. Be with the program or perish, my brother.

Just give up the misguidance in which you had grown up... Why educated guys like you also indulge in same dilemma created by hindu fanatics like fake encounters, fabricated stories about muslims... When will you comeout from thid dogma...??

misguidance can come from madrassas that insist on teaching old books and limited knowledge. I studied in a school that allowed me to think creatively and independently. What I said before is from our history books, and are wellknown facts even you can't deny. It's inscribed on your mosques. Some of my best friends are muslims by the way but they know how to quietly and peacefully follow their religion without inciting troubles. You need to divert your energies towards your fellow-muslims the poor misguided uneducated lot that needs to learn skills that provide them food, clothes and shelter without resorting to criminal activities. Please meditate on that.

Fab Reens Did you ever figure out why attacks, killings etc etc happening in india who sowed the seeds of hatred...?? Im talking about the majority of brainwashed guys,,, not talking about individual,, Even i too have hindu friends even my collegue in office only single hindu but we never treat him different then why there is discrimination with muslims only...???
RE:Clash of Civilization by Indian Police

Who says discrimination is only with muslims? Poor hindus, tribals - a long laundry list of people are discriminated against. Go live in a western country and see how you become a second rate citizen. But the fact remains that muslims have willy nilly projected themselves as terrorists in various ways. And just look at the names of most criminals in India? Sound familiar? It comes from being POOR, period. They all have the potential of being good humans but give them a chance. Don't be blindsided to muslim propaganda only. We need to lift the entire lot of poors.
Previously I use to think that only uneducated people think about such communal stuff. Politics misleading them for their own benefits. But I think its not true. An educated man also do the same thing. For god sake please forget about what happened in past and think for future (applies to all Hindus, Muslims and rest all). Since my childhood I had almost all hindu friends and very few muslim friends. We never had such discussion. Despite of this we go to each other house and celebrate all festivals. When I read on such forums, I always have a question that whether my friends will also be thinking like few people on this forum. R people here doing timepass? or they really mean something?

there is so much hatred around that it needs so much of an awareness drive to bring out some change.you dont need to give proof of your patriotism just because you are a muslim .some forget that being a hindu doesnt give the certificate that they are patriotic than others

why not learn to live with diversity and honor the individualism instead of making huge generalizations about Hindu and Muslim?
The world is fast moving towards becoming tiny from small and you are still entrenched in the Hindu & Muslim debate
Such infiltration at a massive scale all over India can happen only with the local support...
There is more venom in India than in Pakistan... it is among all sections of the Islamic society, though not 100%...
The need of the hour is a stable "Law and Order Mechanism", which adheres to, at least, certain levels of patriotism, honesty, sincerety and public service...

Herein lies the beauty of what Narendra Modi has accomplished in Gujarat. Not a pip in the media about any terrorist activity for the last 5yrs. Why? Media may not consider it juicy enough but people know what stable and peaceful life means to them. Know who your true enemies are. Make your own decision regardless of relentless media campaigns, subtle and not so subtle..
