Col. Venugopal A True Hero and Ms.Subhasini A True Heroine
by upendra jawahar kasid on Feb 06, 2008 08:44 PM  Permalink

dear ms. subhashini,

u r an epitome of an ideal indian woman, i salute u and ur family for the courage that u have shown in this hour of immense tragedy, col.venugopal is not only a hero for ur family but a hero of the entire nation of ours, though i don\\\'t have a brother in reality, but in col.venugopal\\\'s death(supreme sacrifice) i feel i have lost my own brother, the loss is entirely personal, however i would take this opportunity to thank u for giving us an insight into ur personal life, my heart goes to ur young children who have lost their darling and valiant father, but i am sure that u will act as a beacon for ur children and guide them well in their lives, people like col.sahab never die , they are immortal and will always live in our hearts , i am sure the govt. and our great army must be doing their bit for u and ur family, i as a fellow indian can only pray and wish u and ur family all the best for better times ahead.

in sorrow,

upendra--a fellow indian

Martyr's life

Hats off to you Mrs. Subhashini Vasant. You have shown courage and strength which defies descriptions. We need to acknowledge the armed forces, hope the goverment does more than the talk and photo-op. People like us who come from a civilian life we just Talk The Talk , but your whole family including your husband you have Walk The Talk.

Salutes
by Krishnan on Jan 26, 2008 03:24 PM  Permalink

There have been so many messages in admiration and praise of the clear thinking of Mme. Subhasini. Equally, there have been many messages saluting the barevery of the late Colonel saab.
I have nothing more to add, only that it seems very very sad that this nice family has ruined.
however, i am heartnened to note that the lady has picked up the pieces very well. as someone has pointed out, if things such as souls exist, the Colonel's soul would be at peace.
Jai Bharat.

it is we who treat these film stars as stars....if we dont give them a damn who will call them stars.....on the other hand we ourselves forget these great martyrs.....then on top of this we blame the media.....just becoz we call them stars the media creates an aura abt these fools......if we were clever enough ndtv would be broke by now!!!!!......

Real Heroes
by shanmugam kumarasamy on Jan 26, 2008 09:49 AM  Permalink

A great sacrifice to our nation beyond words.

We are living in a country where cine stars are being treated as heroes, for which act they get money. Real people are easily forgotten.

What a shame!

Media should not give much importance to those false heroes, article like this should be often published.

May his courage should long live in our lives.

Contribute to the well being of the Jawan's families
by Gopalakrishnan Naganathan on Jan 25, 2008 09:15 PM  Permalink

in these columns I have requested now for the thrid time creation of a foundation exclusively devoted for the well being of the families of our great jawans who die for INDIA, THAT IS BHARAT. Industrialist stalwarts such as Ratan Tata, Sunil Mittal, Kumaramangalam birla should collectively start a foundation and people like me will contribute a portion of our annual income for the well being of the jawan's families for all times to come. The only condition is such a foundation should work without any bureaucratic hurdles and shower the best on the families of the NDA officers (who are no less than any MBA from IIMs).They are fearless and have a high level of spiritual and emotional quotient which by and large our IIM graduates might lack. take the case of Col. Venugopal; Quote: "Finally, this is all I have left of him," Subhashini Vasant says, pointing to a wood-and-glass box, about one-and-a- half foot square, within which lies folded the national flag that draped her martyred husband's corpse. shall we allow this as responsible citizens of this great country?
regards
gopal
