For a country like our INDIA, which was ruined by colonial powers and later by Advanced Tech. Export Control Regime by the Global Powers, IT IS A GREAT JOB DONE BY OUR DRDO. We should salute the DRDO if possible let us not criticise them. The tax payers money is being looted by leeches like politicial animals certainly not by DRDO.
DRDO research spin off is quite enormous and it has tobe appreciated. Better SALUTE DRDO otherwise all must keep quite. An ordinary citizen of INDIA.
Seems like minister has different message for public and government. DRDO has been a drain for public money. They have wasted money and time to give our Armed forces unusable products. Army is not interested in Arjun Tanks and they are buying russian tanks once more. Tejas is pathetic which air ofrce is not interested in. And other than Prithvi and Agni-II missiles none of the others can hit the target with more than 50% accuracy. Only Brahmos is something which is good, but DRDO can't take sole credit for it.

Given the resources that DRDO had at its disposal, and the means to utilize them, DRDO has done good work. It could have done a lot better had red-tapism and paltry salary not been the case. Yet I feel that given the limited span of 50 years, DRDO's achievements have been remarkable.

Mr.Antony , In order to bring the latest technologies to the country , the individual labs responsible for the certain products (like Radar /EW/ Data link ) should be associated with a global leader in the similar field, Govt should call for global tender for joint development program with a clear milestones for each labs.Eg : Lockheed Martin and HAL ,Northrop & LRDE ; DARE & ITT/EADS etc... The technology partner should have a commitment to design and develop jointly with Indian scientist .

He is one among an endangered species of " Non currupted politician". He might not be an administrator who rules with iron fist. But he is for sure a man of values and one of the Best politicians of our time. He is the only politician in Delhi who nevr accepts gifts/bribes.....
Though DRDO has been trying to achieve self sufficiency but percentage to total requirement is negligible. By the time, DRDO develops an item, it becomes obselete or demand of our forces change to new developments.
A small request to you: Please remunerate all these elite club of scientists with the best pay package possible before they start flocking to the US/UK.

In such organisations, whether scientists get increased remuneration or not, others (not scientists but called scientists)will certainly be benefitted.We do not have system to distinguish in between true scientist and indirect people working as scientist.
