We have to bring some sort of professionalisum in DRDO. Many for our crusual defence projects are running out of time and by the time they complete the project the tecknology will be back dated. Take the case of Arjun tanks, govt. has spend crores ahead of its estimated budjet and still the army is reluctend to takeover the vehicle beacause of its poor performance in Indian conditions. IT is not that we have no qualified people but the problem is that we cant tap them and proffessionaly manage them. It is a truth that our scientists loosing their concentration & efficiency due to financial and family problems. So the change should be from the grass root level

What do you know. I have a car it runs good because I maintain it, but after year it is old model. The same with the tank , yes it is very good, but still the car company will make and improve this model.
The kickback system is destroying our country, because sub-standard products are being bought, instead well tested thing like the arjun. In lastest report Arjun had passed all test.

Dear Indian, on
india-defence.com/reports/3098 you can hear about the Tank arjun,
"Indian developers are believed to have come up with a revolutionary 'honey comb' design for the NERA (Non-explosive and non-Energetic Reactive Armour) Armour and, according to our sources, is said to be performing 'perfectly'.
NERA is a reactive armour which works like any explosive reactive armour but with the crucial difference being the using of energy in form of a charge instead of explosives. Israel, America are reportedly interested in seeking access to this technology."
Please Indian are there to sell their technology and not use it themselves, because they are fools who do not respect themselves, but a coolie raj, who are looting the country.
These things in normal countries are top secret. Please get educate Indian science is great and DRDO are doing a wonderful job..
I can show the same thing with kaveri engine, that forieners were allowed to see our technology, and later developed something similiar. A person without selfrespect, is a fool indeed.

Is This TRUE. Any back up 4 the statements could help. Why is no one from DRDO clarifying ?
Please separate DRDO from other govt run agencies. It should have its own pay scale to attract talent and reputed academicians with managerial abilities should be hired to manage it.
Same should apply for ISRO, BARC etc. These are the pillars on which we have to build our future. These must be given preferential treatment by the government in terms of money allocation, and given freedom to hire the best machinery and compete with the best in the world.

Privatize the manufacturing, science is one subject that is never good to privatize, they should be independent not managed. Should a MBA manage a PhD? It sounds foolish because MBA are not qualified to understand the science subject.
Business is for drunks, loafers, but science is for people with active, creative mind. Science should never be privatized because it does not benefit science. Would you work for an idiot, Maybe for the nation?. Science cannot be half as$ for profit, as that what happens you get imperfection, not perfection, and by bribe it is pass off as perfection. No incentive to be perfect in business cost too much money/time, As to why quality deteriorates, and science deteriorates.

Yes I agree. Those who are the leaders of the private sector are mainly uneducated people. Those who are brillant students, they do not get a chance in the private sector, which is restricted for the relatives of the owner or current managers who are also relatives of the owner. Private sector is the most corrupt part of the country. They have stolen Billions and Billions from every banks and never pay anything back. Science cannot be developed by the private sector. How many private sector companies have a Research & Development division. They only buy technology from abroad.

Very true, there are only 5-10% of people who are really working the others are all come to do time pass.
INDIA should be self reliant. I don't know whether it is cultural inheritance that we react only when threat comes. Look at the news items like 'The angry INDIANS did it" when Parm was invented. When U.S objected tech transfer to India for CRIOGENIC ENGINES, Indians developed it. When other challenge them they act. We should cultivate a culture of Innovatiion. Country only can progress through innovations. Look at our Indian farmers. They are way behind the rest of the world. We should get back to the old cultural heritage of Innovation by preparing future generations. Remmeber our Sain scientists like Pathanjali, Aryabhatta, Bhaskaracharya, Charaka and get inspiration. What ever DRDO, ISRO has achieved is commendable. Even westren world struggled for a long time but they fostered the culture of innovation. It takes time for innovating. I am not sure from where you hails from. But the same man was the chief minister of kerala . And he has done a very good job in it. There might be some controversial issues but he always had a good reserve in state treasury.

For once, we all know that Kerala is a state in which nothing constructive can really happen, why blame Anthony for it. Anthony just took 5 years out of 60 years of independence. For the rest 55 the balance sheet still runs in negatives. Chill Mr. Suresh, if we all citizens of the state work with a positive frame of mind to improve our state we can achieve it.

phrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........never man..with the headless chickens no one can do anything..First we have to ban Headless chickens from India...
You know why i said with headless chicken? The state is under bribe raj, only some people enjoying their life...One assistant engineer (monthly salary is rs.8000) having Scorpio van...These headless chicken never do anything against government employees...that is the main prob...

well.. if an assistant engineer gets only a monthly salary of 8000rs, no wonder he takes a bribe... the starting salary in most non-gov is now above 16k. shuld the engineer b blamed or the govt?

you are right..but what is the use man? Just watch his speech...even 10th class boys speck better than him....
Bharat verma is idiot..doesn't have the faintest idea about the ground pressure and armour of a tank and talks about Arjun being overweighted..arjun is 58 tons..now chk this, Us Abrams, Israels Merkeva, UK Challenger, German Leo are all above 60 tons.. so if we go by Mr Verma, all the above tanks are useless junks and the indian Army has the best tank in world,The T-72..voilaa :-)
people like Bharat verma have only one work to do.. criticism.. instead of appreciating some gud work, such ppl indulge in pointless debates.
Defence R&D is very expensive, it might appear to an uninformed person that DRDO gets a huge amount, but if u look closely across the globe at the amount invested in Defence... DRDO gets a peanut, and idiots like Mr. Verma wants everything best in the worlds for exchange of peanuts..
B.Verma..grow up child..first do ur job honestly, being a journo u sud not mislead the masses
DRDO is doing a fine job.. it has created a huge kowledge base for indian industries. DRDO product are indeed worldclass, ask Indian navy who are more than satisfied with DRDO provided sonars and EW suites..and yes, Arjun will anyday eat T-90 for breakfast.. ask army to field their T-90 against arjun, if they've guts to do so..btw DRDO has already asked for the same, the ball is now in Army's court :-)
