I know that I stand the risk of getting hammered with a deluge of hate comments. But looking at the killings of three students, are we correct to generalize that there is a systematic ethnic bias against Indians? I don't completely agree with this. I know that two timely close incidents may point at this conclusion but we need to be patient and see the events in the next at least one year.

No one claims this to be a hate crime, criminals target easy targets , minorities are easy targets, even in gujarat it is the same . no no hate crime issues, only exploitation of weaks . The main difference here, the system defends you , back in India , the system will shoot you in your back :-)

blacks are mostly criminals, black americans are involved in most shootings, they are drug lords. BLACKS HAVE A HELL LOT OF CRIMINAL TENDENCY IT HAS BEEN PROVED IN A REASEARCH IN BRITAIN LAST YEAR

Rakshak is a small guy.....who got mugged by a big black guy........and pissed in his pants........so acting a big man in cellular where no one can say he is a whoos.....
no one's got any right to cause bodily harm against anyone........the best defence is self defence and caution.............we students have come far from our homes we gotta survive for our dreams.........

Yesterday night i was walking through Mowry Ave , in Fremont,CA,. My two classmates had rented an apartment to live there and i went to visit him. I parked my car near the apartment and was walking in when two black kids came along and tried to snatch my mobile off from my hands. I went inside spoke to my friends , i was doubtful whether i had closed the garage door. So i went back and on the way back i spotted these kids again, i decided i would report it, i followed them into a nearbly shopping complex and then dialled fremont police, they showed up immediately and i identified these two fellows.As i didn't lose my cell phone and as they were kids i asked the police men not to put theft charges on them and instead call their parents and enter it into the records so that next time some one reports anything against them then that would be a serious offence. I urge my Indian friends to report any offenses even it is very minor in nature to police.Indians are being too weak so we are becoming soft targets.

This kind of things happened with us also. We used to leave in a cheap apartment complex when first moved to US. More than three times we were bothered by the African American people. You lose respect for them. Once one guy asked for three dollars as "his daughter is sick". Once one guy stole some stuff. Another guy also asked for money. So for Indian students what they should do share one apartment with other students in a nice neighbourhood as it will be safe.

Reporting does not help. I was attacked in my own flat in London by a white guy, who had done some repair works before. I was seriously injured with head injury. I have called the police but they asked me to go a lawyer. I went to an Indian lawyer, who had ripped me off and took $1000 immediately just to write a letter to the police station. Then I was interviewed and heard nothing at all. After one month I went again to that lawyer, who again took $500 to make some phone calls. I was again interviewed and charged by wasting police time. So I had to withdraw the case against that white guy. All these cost me $1500 and waste of time. I wish I had a gun. I advise all Indian students to carry gun.

Sorry about the incident but I think that what happened to you could have happened to anyone, irrespective of ethnicity. I live in a predominantly white community and my while friends tell me all these stories about how someone tried to mug them. It is just that there are few parts in this US cities which are not safe irrespective of the color of the skin. But I completely agree with you that Indians or for that matter anyone needs to be strong against criminals.

I am sorry if i said Indians are being attacked because of their ethnicity ,i agree with you it is not an ethnicity issue, but culturally we have problems in reporting issues with police and we try to hush up everything, what i meant more is we should take active steps in educating community members the need to work closely with government agencies to elimiate crime in the neighbourhoods we live. Criminals are not morally upright people who are "anti racists",we may be "anti racists" .Hope my point is clear.

Its a pity my friend. I fail to see how this is REMOTELY connected to the burning train. Dont beat a dead elephant if you dont have anything to talk. Hence, you better hush up.
May his soul rest in peace and all condolences to his family. The LSU murders were unfortunate but that part of the country is not really the safest, but Duke is in one of the best study towns in the country. The Indian consulate should insist on looking at this from the racism angle. Another angle that needs looking at is outsourcing bashing. This surely should have quite a few Indians worried over here. Indian govt should also make sure they portray the right image, theres just too much hatred towards Indian outsourcing, and nobody is trying to move the focus onto something else. The US has lost 100 times more jobs due to Japanese automakers and Ive never heard this kind of targeted verbal attacks by any radio show host or talk show host against the Japanese, who are still known for their world class designs and sushi. However almost everyone of them has a negative piece on India.
