Every year around 80,000 Indian student comes to America for higher studies. Lot of these student (atlest 90 %) take loans from their relative or from bank. These students live in cheap neighbour hood around university. Other American student live in Droms. In America, People who goes to college for higher education are predominatly from well off families. These guys in cheap neighbourhood, mistaken these Indian students to be rich. My advise to all student who wants to America is to try to find a apartment in average neighbourhood. Also always carry atleast $ 10 in your pocket, because sometimes that can be life saving for you. These guys get pissed off if you don't have money. Remember their is a price of security in America.

I think that there is identity crisis also for Indians in USA.They as a whole are taken as Asians and to the people of USA,Asians means Pakistanis,Irainians,Iraqis,Afganistanis,Arabs,Bangladeshis.They all ressemble in features.In my opnion,Indians must emphasize on their Indian identiy and show proper contempt to the Asian identity thrust upon them.Asians are seen with contempt because of their Islamic Militancy-including their acts in Glassgow Airport,WTO,Spain,India etc.

americaisgreat : you must be a real racist to say this. It shows America is not great but it is a hell of a place.
I think most violent people would be considering Indians as soft prey who do not retaliate much and nor do they report to police. Perpetrators of the crime must be dealt with severely including Indian govt putting pressure on the US govt.
It is also my thinking that racism is also a factor. Most americans now a days dont like Indians coming and working/studying in america, specially when their own kids are failing in studies.

thats not true. as a matter of fact most "educated" americans like indians. as most of the successfull doctors, software guys are indians. but look at india .... crime is happening here also. adn in germany,france as well. but no one talks about it. also 2 weeks ago 2 sikh brothers were killed in san francisco how come no one talked about it. rediff almost never talks about what happens to sikhs here....
It is unfortunate that only when Indian origin students get murdered does it make to the news. There are hundreds of cases each year about Indian students getting mugged (beaten up) badly by blacks and mexicans. Nobody goes to the cops and nothing is done for Indian students who live in perpetual fear. As a breather atleast this does not happen everywhere.

perpetual fear!? common, there is crime in the U.S., that us just a fact. It just happens that this particular victim was an Indian.
