Show some restraint
by Karthik Sridharan on Jan 18, 2008 11:15 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hey, guys. I understand that you all feel upset at Musharraf for his past and current actions, and much of those feelings are well-deserved. However, I think it's pretty immature and dangerous to make blanket statements about Muslims in general. If you really think about it, most Indians can feel sympathy for the plight of the majority of Pakistani people. They have been subject to over 60 years of life under a series of undemocratic and dictatorial regimes, just as many states in India have been subject to rule by useless leaders over the years. Additionally, it would be hypocritical to characterize all Muslims as being violent; every religion of the world unfortunately has its share of religious extremism.

We feel sympathy for the liberals. But, the way things are going on, they seem to be losing out to the extremist thought leadership. The army and police are demoralized, there are desertions, the militants are able to run over army garrisons with ease, and attack at will. What do you see as response from the Army and the executive? Only talk. The streets are becoming killing fields, and no one knows if the fellow pedestrian is not a suicide bomber.

The liberals are now more concerned with getting Musharraf out than the extremists. That is if you think the legal fraternity.

agree with 100%. I think we should extend our help to pak people who are also our neigbour. An explosion which actually affects a few meter wide, but it can make a sense of, as some thing hapened to all nation. A few people can make havoc in a big city or a nation. It doesnot mean all are terrorists. Just a few people are behind it. They selected it because they know it will affect all the nation. 99% of pak people are innnocent, and we should not be agaisnt them, if possibe we should extend our all help to them.

The country is already occupied by Lakshar-e-Tayyiba, Jaish-e-Mohd, Harkat-Ul-Mujahideen and the state owned ISI militant groups. And the Taliban is slowing creeping from the Afghan borders. So, there is no place left for Al-Qaida militants.

I think the journos misquoted Mush. What Mush meant was that " no place is LEFT for Al Qaeda in pakistan. It is already full and overflowing. Even the Pres House is occupied".

No need to be so sympathetic about sons and daughters of Allah. entire lot of them should pay hefty price for what they have done to innocent people all over the world.
It is not a coincidence that a Muslim is associated with every terror attack all over.
God willing, they fall prey to their own trap.

Musharraf himself does not believe in what he says!

His army is demoralized, the top brass loves to stay in the cantonments, the police does not know who could be suicide bomber walking, driving among a crowd, and the terrorist elements will go berserk if Musharraf calls them "mad" people who will be killed. They will think if they have to die in any case, why not kill those who harm them and die in the process?

Pakistan will find the going tough. There are no easy solutions, they will find it more messy in the coming months.

You dont know really about Saudi Arabia, that is why u r saying like this. just think of that have you heard of any terrorist explosion in Saudi as happened in pak or India? no. It is because the ruler in Saudi is a King. It is true there is everything based on Islamic law. There all are muslims that is why islamic law is forced. Non-muslims are foreigners who come there for work. Under the rule of the King and his genorocity all non-muslims and muslims live there in secular conditions, and without any problems. do u know the government of India earn a significant amount of foreign money from Saudi alone. If it is base for terror, why does Ossama live somewhere outside saudi? I was there for 5 yrs. we, non-muslims enjoyed, the life under their law. They the saudis are really very geneorus people and helping others. They will be provoked when it is due to our fault behind it always our people.
