Self destructive path
by stormylook on Jan 17, 2008 03:44 AM  Permalink

We should be glad that India has been rid of this belt called Pakistan in 1947. If that place was still a part of India, we would not have seen so much of development in India. A country which places religion above everything else and makes no distinction between the State and religion and does not give education and science its due recognition is bound to lose its balance. This is especially so in the case of Islam which is intolerant of modernity in any sphere except where arms and ammunition is concerned! Pakistan is doomed on its own self destructive path.

Evils of human society and their solution
by JGN on Jan 16, 2008 08:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Human society was divided on lines of caste, creed, color and tribes, and consequently was plunged into the valley of conflicts and tribulations. Caste based on birth was propounded by vested interests, guided by the principle of selfish pleasure and geo-socio-economic sentiments with the sole motives to perpetuate economic exploitation over the ignorant mass. Same is the case with racial sentiments. The "purity" and vanity of racial superiority associated with religious dogmas is a glaring case of vested interest psychology.

It is irrational, illogical, conservative and dogmatic to divide humanity on the bases of external differences. This sort of psychology is the product of evil forces. How to get rid of this sort of mentality and establish a universal social order? If right thinking people and well-wishers of the society wanted to form a peaceful world order, the following factors should be integrated:

(1) universal social outlook based on Neo-Humanism

(2) availability and guarantee of minimum requirements of life

(3) common penal code based on cardinal principles of life

(4) a progressive and rational socio-economic theory

(5) social codes of conduct for justice, discipline and social solidarity

(6) logical and scientific views of life and world free from dogmas and superstitions

(7) a spiritual-moralist leadership free from geo or class sentiments

Lord Meghnad Desai on God
by JGN on Jan 16, 2008 08:20 PM  Permalink

Of course I ask myself why superstition is so widespread and why 99.99% of people believe in some form of God. Because of uncertainty and death, people cannot cope with the absoluteness of non-existence. So they invented an after-life and gods because it is useful. I have no doubt that this is the only life. I have and I'd better make the best out of it - Lord Meghnad Desai.

(Lord Meghnad Desai may not be correct on non-believers. Almost 15% of world's population are now irreligious atheists - JGN)

by Sanjeev Sharma on Jan 16, 2008 06:24 PM  Permalink

what would have happened if indian government had the foresight to actively encourage destruction of pakistan

1. no routine terror attacks in india
2. no indian idiots collecting indian money for medical treatment of people who would rather kill indian people.
3. no indian pm losing sleep.

This is the best lost investment opportunity for india. To add insult to the misery which could be avoided, indian politicians dream of being treated as a powerful country.

The taliban are demonstrating who is the Boss...
by Demo-crazy on Jan 16, 2008 05:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Looks like the Pak army is good for nothing. The taliban seem to control many regions. If this continues, the army will be limited to stay in the garrison, while the real control shifts to the taliban. There are frequent reports of lower ranks deserting the forces, and switching sides.

Pakistan is going through turbulent times. It is necessary that the army stays focused to win, and crush the terrorist groups. This is becoming the most urgent task, but for some reasons the defence forces do NOT seem to be in any hurry.

The liberal sections of the Pak society will find it hard if Taliban continues to succeed.

I hope they realize the mistakes of what they have done. My point is that there is nothing liberal about these terrorists.

The only way they can achieve sanity is by the armed forces crushing these elements.

Pakistani Armed Forces are nothing but a Mafia that breeds terrorists. It has milked Pakistan's economy to the hilt. It is a danger to all its neighboring countries.
There is NO difference between Pakistani civil society, its armed forces, and its terrorist groups.
