this was a great opportunity to include "non-interference" in each other's country into the signed agreement. this would have stopped the arms the maoists receive from china. but congressis, being congressis, can never think of the right issues to address, specially national security issues.

Congress --- better do not comment. The present situation of India is because of them only. Show of Hypocracy must go on. The are Master in that.
I dont know why India always postures submissive image when it comes to China. If India aspires to be Super power it should speak with Chinese as if both sides are equal and not as if Chinese are our big brothers.
We can benefit by having a good relationship with China. Many just criticise and going by their sentiments all are enemies. We will be totally isolated like North Korea, whose only friend is China, who is now friends with all!
China is not like the old. They have thrown open the economy. Their leaders are highly businesslike unlike our impractical commies whose stale theories will not interest China anymore.
Their tall leader Deng Xiopeng, standing under five feet, chartered new vision and knocked some sense into his colleagues. A practical man, he saw how the chinese flair for business was crippled at home, whereas they flourished in Taiwan, Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia etc. He exhorted his cadres "whether a cat is black or white does not matter, it has to catch mice". Another went "to be rich is to be glorious". The latter one, none of our commies will utter, as they flourish in poverty. Deng knew without wealth they were doomed.
Some tout our democracy. Let us hail that, but have we gained by our no holds barred chaos? Leaders play one against another, inciting hatred, for their selfish interests.
Let us have a basic understanding with not only China, but also others and be practical like them. I feel China is magnanimous as they can ignore us as they are in a better position, being a Permanent Member of the SC and key member of Nuclear Suppliers Group. We have more to gain.
Let us not be blinded by hatred and create enemies.

We can put forth any condition. We can spurn all overtures. Who are we friends with, anyway? Our friendship, is it so priceless? It should be give & take. Times have changed. Vietnam is attracting huge investments from all countries and also from China. The clinger with US is " we have mo muslims, you are safe". To think that they fought a war & killed thousands some years back. Empty rhetorics will not fill the stomachs. We can be ostrasized by all. Learn from Japan & China. They cooperate to avoid all animosities.
We can lose a battle, but we can win the war of peace.

Shiva's comments are always conducive and wise. There's no country which has no conflict with some country. What leaders of a country should consider is what is the best way to deal with other countries. If indian leaders consider engaging China can not get any benefits, ok, stop it to see what will happen.
Some guys here just focus their eyes on one piont and exaggerates that point. They do not know what is the whole picture. I hope more Indians are as wise and intelligent as Shiva.

It is easy to criticize . May be you are in real estate business. Respect what our leaders are doing.
