Division of UP into 3 parts
by RAMESH IYER on Jan 15, 2008 05:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is a welcomeable move by Ms.Mayawati. Instead of 3 parts, better divide the state by 2 consisiting 200 to 205 assembly seats. Previously before division of Uttranchal state, there were 475 seats . 70 seats went to Uttranchal. Now 3 parts will consist an average of 135 seats each.

She is ensuring that UP does not have any clout in the choice of PM and lok sabha. Whatever little development that is happening will stop permanently. See the example of Jharkhand, Uttaranchal, Chattisgarh. Let us also do the same for karnataka, tamil nadu, andhra and maharashtra.

Smaller States
by Munis Guru on Jan 15, 2008 05:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

For our population size, we should have 50 states. One state for evry 2 crores population. Also, the metros should be made union territories.

There are diparities in development within every state. Smaller states will be good to have better administrative set up and faster growth.

what a bouncer!!
by Gautam Sinha on Jan 15, 2008 05:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is fantastic. With East UP gone from rest of UP, infamous criminal breeding grounds(East UP is the breeding ground for Dawood and many Bihar gangs have bases there. So one emergency can take care of the problem) go out of it. Rest of UP can progress. Whether it is administratively viable remains to be seen. lol...

very true ,i think east UP is a big blockage in progress of western UP.Image what is reflected about UP related to corruption and crime is only due to east UP.city like agra, merrut, moradabad which are so near to NCR are unsucessful to attract investment due to astonished image of UP

Division
by arungopal agarwal on Jan 15, 2008 05:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Nothing wrong for administrative control reasons. But why on the basis of caste, creed, zone, why not geometically. Movever,NCR can be a part of greater Delhi and West UP a part of Haryana instead of a separate State.
Today if a truck moves from Chennai to Delhi, it is checked at 73 places and reaches in 11 days, whereas the time required is 3 days. If in free India, it is further to be cross checked, the fruits of liberisation, will vanish.

I don't agree with your suggestion, If you say that division should be geometrical then I see only single division Eastern UP and Western UP, attching a part of state to another state is no solution keeping in mind different cultue and different lifestyle.

Yeah more states, more chief ministers and more number of ministers from every state and more money for politicians. no matter if in real terms big or small states are governed better.
