Shit. don't understand what I am reading. I regarded DRDO with very high respect. This is crushing blow to my understanding of india's defence. If this is true, Pakistan can easily defeat India. And forget about competing with China. No wonder india is licking chinease shoes.

dont be crushed...India's defence is in the hand of the brave jawaan...and not the drdo..had it not been the case you would have had a different name....
you are safe till the brave jawaan is there..but going by drdo standards he will soon be manning the border with a danda....
Maybe it is doing badly because all those in there came by affirmative action; the good ones went ot USA long ago. If there is no reservation, then maybe the government should start some; upper cate babus are ruining the country! What about Muslims in DRDO? What does Modi and BJP have to say? Pakis alre already ready with their fighter (JF-17 Thunder) and here we are hopelessly keeping those Mig21s alive at a great cost of young lives. All this while people in the Raksha Manatralaya are trying to figure out how to earn a fast buck out of coffins that they will purchase to carry our fallen heroes. Jain Hind!
Moral of the story: If you think you are good, get out of India and make some good of your talent. There is no hope for middle class educated, un-reserved category people.

Since when did this become reservation issue ??? Do yo know how many reserved seats at DRDO are actually filled. Be little more objective.

True, the Shabby government policies really force the educated unreserved middle class people to despair. Had the defense ministry be given to People like Arjun Singh , they would have introduced the Reservations , and we would have been at the mercy of our neighbors. The Congress Government totally ruined the country's vision and hope for the people.
are government sponsored welfare programs for public benefit. The government expects nothing in return, but just hopes that in the long run something positive would result from this. DRDO funds the lives of many educate people and civil contractors. This is done in all countries.
The author just wants the corrupt military officers to get richer by buying from abroad with all the commisions and what not. Our military requirements are not that big when compared to US or Russia. What we need are simple anti terrorist schemes and weapons.

dear totally no debonair...this country's army is the largest in south asia....
i wonder if you are correct then the country in question is screwed...but since it hasnt been the case and it is the world largest democracy...
DRDO has many faults, just as any other organisations in India. However, the author of the said article is a miserable ignorant agent of the corrupt sections of the India's armed forces' officers, bent on making quick bucks from the weapons purchases abroad. At the time, India embarked on developing its own missiles, nobody in the world would even sell automatic rifles to India, let alone sophisticated missiles. Speaking about re-inventing wheels, the author of the above article is still does not know the details of the mathematical processes involved in the concept of wheels. These people should better spend their time with free alcoholic drinks in their parties with the foreign journalists. The subject he has taken up here is well beyond his brain power.

Well, the toppers in US go to finance sector. It is not surprising that India is also suffering from shortage in science field. But at least these guys from good engineering colleges join DRDO. It is upto DRDO to motivate these folks to stay on.

NO. If DRDO (or any other PSU company) wud have those guts then I too wud have joined (at least a PSU):-)
It is same with all the PSUs inIndia.
One of these toppers folks koined BEL(Bharat Electronice Ltd.) His boss used to send him for getting xerox work done. He used to say that BEL is an assembling unit. (parts are imported) and if some times the assembly works they put a tag . ...MADE IN BEL. He quit.
Now he is in ST Microelectronics.
I also got an offer from BSNL. But See. the officer whom i went to submit the papers said me.."dont waste your life here".(as i was already working with a good software company)..

I won't blame your friends for their situation. One problem is that these IAS babus have too much power and prestige, so more people are attracted to IAS. But the nature of the job that IAS people do is less demanding compared to the nature of the job that defence scientists are supposed to do. And yet, defense jobs are not really attractive when you compare them to IAS. I think India has got its priorities completely wrong.

What a shame !! they are preparing for IAS at the cost of taxpayers money. When you have people with twisted priorities and even twisted minds ( no shame in using research time to study for IAS) 'working' for DRDO one can only imagine the outcome of research. How is it possible ?? DRDO does not have elaborate and effective performance tracking and monitoring in place. This allows the 'slackers' to collect their paychecks without contributing anything useful.....Why blame anything else?? Blame the administrative machinery at DRDO

Same author has written similar article in IDR and is available on their website. However, it has been modified completely out of shape on Rediff to bash DRDO. Those who are interested in the original article please go to the IDR website and see the difference. In the original article, the author has made good points but this one is so biased that it appears to have been deliberately distorted by interested party or parties.

I was providing the info about DRDO contribution on the Su-30MKI and somebody reported those message for abuse!!I surely thing vested interests are at work here!
This knid of problem is with all the PSU companies. One of my friend was in B. E. L. (BHARAT ELECTRONIS lTD.). He got extremely frustrated thr. He was very very good . But his senior manager there used to give him copies to get xeroxed like a peon. Pathetic. He used to say that what they did there was assembling job. All the parts used to be IMPORTED then BEL used to (sometimes Successfully) assemlbe them and put a tag of BEL...see how funny. He quit and now in ST Microelectronics.
Other of my college friends (rather toppers) joined DRDO just to prepare for CIVIL SERVICES. So do you think these toppers will work there???
I personally dont think so.
So the Situation is self evedent. As most of the (so called) scientists are rather FAKE.
Just to let you know here that none of them (toppers) made it to IAS till now ..even after 3 years. So will a frustrated scientist make inventions?
As of me , i was also selected once for BSNL. I went to submit my papers. The Chief officer told me that why i was going to waste my life ... (as I was alredy working for one of the finest Software Firm..Now in USA).
