Did they insure their shops? If not they should blame themselves. Normally they do not, since they want to hide all their black transaction. Unfortunately, this phenomenon of not insuring the property is prevalent everywhere.

many people would like to help, we should seek help of newspaper and marwari cultural organisations, but got to do fast, else sympathy wave would be over.Any Small amount of Rs 50/100 can help. should put a donation box at religious centers like jain sabha. We need marwari industrialists and social workers to take lead. this is gigantic loss.

CPM will blame Central Govt and BJP
by SP on Jan 14, 2008 01:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As per practice, CPM will blame Central Govt and BJP for the present incident. It is always the style of CPM in WB and Kerala, if they are not able to do any thing, they will simply blame the Central Govt. Now also in Kerala, even though they are ruling, for poor administration of their, the STate Govt is blaming Central Govt for not supporting them, - the real fact is that the State Govt could only spend 26% of the Central funds till date.

can understand from various posts that most people out here condemning kolkata unnecessarily are politically motivated. ruling party out here extend some crucial support at govt. formation at delhi. these people are concerned about that fact and therefore giving vent to their frustration by scribbling irrelevant and derogatory messages about one of the greatest place on earth (3 nobel prize winners, 1 oscar winner ....). Their comments are not at all out of concern for bengal. as a apolitical person i appeal not to portray bad image of kolkata unnecessarily. if you say kolkata is bad then whole of india is bad

Dont worry. BUPC ( Bhumi Ucched Protirodh Committee) along with Mamata is working day and night to put off the fire. Mamata is running (24 X 7) with a water filled bucket in her hand from the Hugli river to Burrabazar to put off the fire. So there is no need of CPIM Cadres to do it.

You idiot, do you know that bengali occupant or merchant in that building is not even 1% of the total "regular" visitors.

Also note that Tagore's poetry is not made for fools like you

You dun it seems you have the habit of making baseless comment and it reflects your sheer ignorance.

Also be informed that i am no way conected to any political party and have no bias towards any culture or any thing else.

I'll excuse your spelling, it should be Tagore sangeet. It's the same that your grandfather, father, your son & your gradchildren stand up when they hear or they sing......it is called the National Anthem. If you do not know it yet, suggest you get hold of teh nearest Indian you can get hold of.

Left - Right?
by teherek on Jan 14, 2008 01:47 PM  Permalink

When the communist party came to power they said the left is the right thing. In short "Left is Right". Now they are digging deep into the coffers of the capitalists, as their mask of common people's champion has been pulled off. Now they are openly saying they need Capital to sustain development. Or rather, the poor and ordinary peoples votes alone will not do to sustain them in power, they need the money of the rich. So now they are saying "Right is Left".

Who is responsible for non-supply of electricity and water in the metro city? Don't blame Fire Brigade only. It is the left brigade, who has made Bengal a place of their dreams.

Need to appreciate the people who been fighting heat and fire!
by sony kalloor on Jan 14, 2008 01:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think we need to be objective on our response. Here is a fire which caught up a very old building with no fire saftey. The building was with inflamable stuff !
There is a team of fire fighters with arround 35 Fire Guns contineously pumping water , arround 100 of fire personals who are inside the building trying to fight heat and get the fire out! Yes we lack the equipment power of some of the American or the australians do have . But we can have only we are capable of buying. yes Tings would have been better had we had better equipments helecopters who can splash water etc in hand to help.
But lets not stand away and just blame the world ! The media is not even able to till date give a count on how this can be bought down or rather what needs to be done immediately so that that this could be controlled better . When will media take reponsibility objectively rather than emotionally ! As lond as sms revenues are their back bone i dont think it will happen

it is a nexus between the landlord, builders & CPM. The rent paid by the tenants was as low as Rs.150 per month, because of which the landlord was reportedly unhappy.
