Jyoti Basu was mere cheif minister of West Bengal.He is against the India's nuclear treaty with USA. His contribution to India's developments is almost nothing. He stayed in power just by goonda-gardi. Communist people are never trustworthy. Nobody can tell whether they are with China or India. And also, we have looked their another ugly face in Nandigram.
why this politicians are behind the countries hieghest civilian award for themselves. if they are fit for that it will be given to them. why these peoples are not concentrating on growth of the country. formars of the country is suciding why nobody is raising any voice on that or helping them to over come such depression
Of all the matters, why Bharat Ratna now ? And how India matters to these people ?
And whats the contribution to India by these Commies ?
Vajpayee has been the PM of India for 5-6 years. And he has been at the centre of political activities since independence.
But Jyoti Basu ? Here are some contributions of Commies to India listed below.
1) Commies supported China during 65 war.
2) They have let crores of Bangladeshis inside India which is a big security risk now. (When Bal Thackeray said "stop these bangladeshis, pseudo-secular media & communal politicians from Congress made hue & cry).
3) Commies preach Communism & practice Capitalism. Read Buddha's recent public discourses.
4) To make people wealthy, first you have to create wealth. Commies have to realise this. You just can't go on strikes/bandhs and make your state wealthy.
5) Nandigram was an eye-opener which showed how Commies treat opposition in their states. Whether poor, minority or dalits, they will be lynched by their cadres. They kill more people than any other political outfits or probably LTTE.
So, if above are contributions of Commies to India, surely Jyoti Basu deserves a Bharat Ratna.
Hail Mao, Hail Lenin & Stalin, Kill millions and get Bharat Ratna !!
May be CPM is India then, it can give it to Mr Basu. During the tenure of C.M of W.B, Poverty increased and no progress made. Only population growth happened. Hence Mr Basu is in no way can be a candidate for it. Did Mr Advani speak for Mr Vajpayee or it is a politics played?

I would like to add some more points on it. CPM didn't asked for Bharat Ratna for Jyoti Basu. One of the central ministers said if Bharat Ratna is to be given away to Mr. Vajpayee then why not Mr. Basu. In that context Mr. Biman Bose said that he have no idea on the parameters on which Bharat Ratna is awarded. If Mr. Basu fulfills the parameters and been awarded then that has nothing to do with them. In case of Vajpayee, he also said the same but added that BJP wants to do politics on that. Basically CPM is not ready to take any kinds of awards from any of the BJP or Cong govt as they thinks they(non-commie govts)are "Burjoya".
I have seen that interview in some other TV channels also, that's why I could explain the things before you. And one more request to rediff. Please stop Yellow journalism and ill-reporting. Although I don't know whether rediff moderator is blind or something or they are some how funded by foriegn countries as they used to campaign against Indian politicians whom people vote.
Bharat Ratna for Jyoti Basu, please CPI-M don't crack jokes on starting of year, 2008. What for should Mr. Jyoti Basu be given this Award. What are his contributions to the nation except West Bengal........

Since it was awarded to MGR, it can be awarded to any idiot after that. Next dmk will demand that it should be awarded to Karunanidhi as he is equally old, also wearing a spectacle (as Gandhi did) and height of all, supporting the UPA government.
Interesting. Next, Congress will want Bharat Ratna to be given to Sonia. However, there will be confusion here whether it should be Bharat Ratna or Italian Ratna or Global Ratna. Then, can Karunanidhi and Lalu Yadav be far behind. Perhaps the best thing to do would be give away 100 Bharat Ratnas this year to all and sundry. Being an important election year in many important States, this will be the ideal strategy for UPA to follow. With so many Bharat Ratnas floating around in the country after this, no one will need real `Ratnas'.
BJP is interesting. Bollywood type street shooting, lynching people on street, buring people alive, sweating and asking for water when faced with direct questions by Karan Tapar on live TV and cutting short the interview, fooling around with illiterate people of the country telling them things like "hum italy jake ram ram bolega kya ? kya?? ( by modi the monster ) etc.. CPI-M is really boring . . They dont know the masala tricks. They dont know how to perform pooja to bring death on a political rival. They are educated people who fail to entertain the uneducated..
