NO china should not apologize for anything. CHINA should be given waste areas and this will make india cleaner. There is nothing in Aksai chin, no petrol or diesal.

BTW it was Nehru who was poking his nose in tibet and got a bloody nose by china in 1965

Before you make nonsense comments at least get your dates right .
The bloody nose that you claim Nehru was in 1962 . In 1965 Nehru was dead and his ashes sprinkled across the country. There was nose for your bloody Chinese plas to make bloody.
Your logic is warped . Nothing grows in Thar desert should we give to Paksistan ?

China's a dangerous country !!!
by Ptolemy on Jan 12, 2008 01:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

People have this terrible habit of getting carried away by China's progress. The fact that the cat has become fatter doesn't mean it's less hungry. It's a country that doesn't care for its own people. Between 1949-the Communist Revolution- and now they managed to wipe off close to 60 million of their own compatriots- in the Great Leap Forward, Let a Hundred Flowers Bloom, the 'Cultural' Revolution and now the Falun Gong pogrom. Can we (Indians) expect anything better. You bet not. Just keep your gunpowder dry and let it go when they come at you. They tricked and fooled the great Nehru and they have tricked and fooled the gullible and simple Karat and they will do anything to see that India doesn't come up and compete for the world's resources with them. They would have destroyed us long ago if the US weren't around to keep them in their place.

Why Arunachal
by Nandita P on Jan 12, 2008 12:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why the heck to the Chinese want Arunachal. They already hold Aksai Chin, Tibet (which is the size of western Europe), what more do they want? If they want to argue over disputes, lets throw in Tibet and Aksai Chin also. Their country is big enough and they claim more. Do our dignitaries bring out these points when talking to the chinkus. Its a strong enough argument. Maybe B. Raman himself can educate us on what exactly these chinkus talk in the Border-dispute meetings.

morchak, if you dont know facts then shut up. dont blabber stupid things. arunachal is a huge resource of clean water, which is becoming scarcer. in addition its also home to some precious natural resources. and most importantly its a buffer from predatory china for us. chinese are not fools to claim arunachal.

How come everyone has forgotten about the people who live in these areas. They are Indians first and then Ladhakis or whatever....They've bourne their alleigance to the mother land. You don't just give a part of your country even though it might not hold natural resources. The people are the most important resources of the country....Forget coal and oil.....

Too much is happening behind closed doors in Beijing!
by Ashish Agrawal on Jan 12, 2008 11:55 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

No prize for guessing that China considers India as the only credible state which has the potential to challange its economic, military and cultural might.
Its a known fact that China is trying to encircle India. It has military bases in Myanmar and strong miliary ties with Pakistan. Its trying to increase presence in Indian Ocean and recently started courting Sri Lanka as well. This should worry India. Border road developments and fast track infra build up at Chinese end of Sino-India border has gone un-noticed for too long. Our politicians have ensured that India sleeps over the issue until the only option left for us would be to start adhereing to Chinese terms without having any power (or will) left in us to fight back.
I think our national security is being compromised. Our ill-natured neighbours are being armed by one country which has the history of being unfaithful to us and our leaders are still willing to take them on face value.
I think the best we can do is to bring up the Tibet issue on International stage if and when China shows any sign of not compromising on Sikkim, Arunachal & Akshai Chin. Let them fight for cover, lets be predators for a change. This will surely dilute their stand in Indian National Interest. Politician - Be counted as alive, not dead.

India cannot choose to bring their guard sown specially with the Chinese and they do have a history of back stabbing. They wil continue to keep a safe distance and see us with suspician and we must also do the same without passing the trade benefits that nation has to offer. We must also implement their kind of infrastructure to speed up and sustain or growth.

China !! The Only Threat to INDIA
by george chandy on Jan 12, 2008 10:37 AM  Permalink

As long as the China is ruled by authoritarian syle govenments, we should never trust china fully. How ever friendly the relations turn out to be, we should be prepared for any kind of military actions. In my view point China is the only country in the world which can put up a credible threat for Indias security.

Trade : The New Weapon of China
by Venkatesa Prabhu on Jan 12, 2008 10:07 AM  Permalink

After ensuring a very vastly superior military might against India, China has now begun to use trade as a major weapon ... along with IT. Low cost, low-lifespan products from China are aimed at hitting Indian makers, while the predominantly marauding cyber crime originating from Russia reportedly finds its way to China. The aim obviously is to hit India. India needs to maintain a high level of alertness.
