China, India still suspicious -MIGHT IS RIGHT
by ram tal on Jan 13, 2008 09:12 AM  Permalink

Dear Shri.Ramanji,

One should not forget Chinese respect Strength and Power in a competitor/adversary or will make life hell for you asseen in 1962 defeat and occupation of 90,000 sq km of Indian territory. With estimated defence spending of US$60 Billion, what stand does India stand with weak and fragmented political leadership incase of conflict? One should never forget lessons of history or nation will suffer terribly?

In defence supplies, Western nations USA and esp. UK has always let INdia down and under UPA Government's watch toes have deteriorated with RUssia and China is bound to score over us here again.eg Refusal to sell ageing Sea Harriers aircraft by UK critical for INdian Aircraft carrier? What is take on this? Minister P.Mukherjee also fawns over Chinese border incursions in India. Has corruption spread so badly that national security is compromised for monetary gains? Are the INdian people being shortchanged by an inept, corrupt Government and polity where nepotism is the rule rather than exception? Your comments please--------------

China - India - B.Raman's good essay
by Kris iyer on Jan 13, 2008 05:00 AM  Permalink

Excellent, detailed essay by B.Raman. Nehru did his utmost to develop a strong Asian solidarity with China. Cynical China continued the old Imperial, "middle-kingdom" policies, under Mao's revolutionary regime. China treated Nehru's good will in the most contemptuous way, adopted a sneaky "forward movement" policy in the border (pushing its soldiers into Indian territory one or two kilometres every month, mostly unseen by Indian patrols) rejected out of hand the "McMahon Agreement" between British India and free Tibet, launched an all-out war in 1962, taking full advantage of India's non-alignement policy. Nehru died a heart-broken man in 1964, just two years after he realised the enormity of the damage China had done to his ideal of Asian solidarity against Western imperialism. Analysts have not brought out sufficiently the role China has played in the nuclearisation of South Asia and North Korea. Both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers because of sneaky moves, deliberately intiated by the Chinese regime, in its mindless hostility towards India. Pity, because Chinese people, as opposed to the communist regime have had good feelings for India, her culture and, in particular, Buddhist philosophy. Most countries in this world are suspicious of the Chinese regime but find the Chinese people talented and wise. India must review its Tibet policy, along with other powers of this world. They must act togeter on Tibet.

CHINA IS HISTORICALLY AN IMPERIAL NATION..
by MGR Fan on Jan 12, 2008 11:07 PM  Permalink

Read the history of China and one can understand how Chinese rulers fought wars to control other nations like Mongolia, japan, korea, vietnam, Siam (thailand) and Myanmar.

China's history shows this country as a dominating imperial power. The key thing is India should be vigilant with China, always.

Ah, here is a nation that cannot even decide who should be awarded a Bharat Ratna. They fight amonge themselves for rewards like cats and dogs. The only danger to India comes from the Indias. The Jai Chands, the Mir Jaffars.

B Raman's is of Course a Balanced appraisla Hidi-chini bhai-bhai.. 2008
by D goel on Jan 12, 2008 04:04 PM  Permalink

Pkl. Afternoon, 3.40pm, Saturday ,Jan. 12th 2008
B. Raman is neither unduly pessimistic or overly optimistic of the current visit of PM Manmohan Singh official parleys in Beijing for which he starts with his spouse and a full contingent of his advisers and a Minister and Business representatives, to night.
The truth is , that both of the two sides for reasons of old suspicions and disappointments of earlier Hindi -Chini Bhai-Bhai euphoria of Fifties
of Panchsheel between Nehru and Chou-in -lai
days followed by Mao Dze dong's hordes ravaging Indian forces just south of Macmohan line in Sela Bomdela in oct-Nov 1962,have soured these Border settlement all these over forty yrs.
No doubt we have different perceptions of the borders all these decades.Shiv Shankar Menon our Foreign Secy. did speak of these, candidly on official news, this Morning..
Now the committed disciples of San Tzu never give up any claims to territory and hegemony under the appeals to spirit of mutual give and take or promoting neighbourly bon homie, either.Their shrewd negotiators tire out our lackadaiscal officials into ennui and suddenly start challenging ,even what the indians thought as settled matters like Sikkim or NEFA .it is never so with the Chinese mode of negotiating diplomacy..Raman rightly hazards that the chinese side may demand concessions in Tawang sector for agreeing to let Indians get Dejure acceptance of Sikkim as Indian Territory.
B. Raman , really is very precise why the chines

what else does China have? over the last few years we have seen too many people fall head over to this China-worship. Can you prepare similar statistics for other countries. What do Pak, Bangla, Burma, etc. have? Please give us some more statistics so that you can feel like you are making Indians shiver.
