Competition
by Jagan on Jan 10, 2008 05:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Brahmins r just 2-3%, But they occupied almost
85-90% of higher Govt posts & colleges.

Even with 65% reaervaion against them they r attaining
higher post some times.

If there is no reservation, then all govt office will be like
NASA, Where almost 10% are brahmins against competion
from all over the world.

One Ambedkar, one Dr. Kalam, one Azim Premji are sufficient to say that if there is a will to succeed there is way.

No one can choose his or her parents or caste or religion. What we can definitely change is our economic status by dint of hard work. At times there may be some need of support. But most of those who succeed are those who helped themselves and did not fear failure.

As a person by some unluck or by fate born in a caste classified as the other caste by the Indian government I dont have any rights to equal opportunity in India .I have never ill treated any one and have always loved my country and its country men .I am denied my chance at a fair go for the past 60 years the government has not taken any step to eradicate caste system or tell me when are they going to undo the system which means for another 1000 generation to follow me will have to go through the rest.Tell me what should i do .

Forget 1000 generations! If there is no reservation in govt jobs then Brahmins will
easily pass all the technical exams & get the higher posts. then what about non-brahmins!
They have to work as lavourers allways?

Sunshine,,
That is called hardwork and merit which lifts people and makes them eliegible for better things. Not reservations. Instead of begging for reservations, get your finger out and get working at it.

If brahmins were all great and just they wouldn't have created a society where millions were treated inhumanly hard work and merit alone give you upliftment you need more than that in India however hard you work how ever intelligent you are if you come from poor economic background like a slum or a small tribal village your struggle is double the government should give reservation to this poor souls so they and their future generation can have a beeter life

how can govt eradicate caste system? caste system is a social problem... IF u r from the 'forward caste', even if reservation is removed, will ur parents agree to ur marrying a lower caste person? Reservation is not intended to address social problems like caste system (even though politicians claim otherwise).. It's only an economic system, so it will have no impact on caste system

Always in history only the poor are affected the rich never care a poor brahmin and a poor dalit are the same .Reservation should be based on economics and not caste.I can understand if they give reservation to poor people in a certain community .Does anyone of us think that reservation has seriously helped tribals in MP and orissa its only the upper level of the caste that gets the advantage.i am happy to marry any one from any caste but my parents has got serious reservations but i can assure you my friend that i wouldn't do the same with my kid for i belong to the enlightened Indian generation.

Anyways, my pt was just that caste system is a social ill and no amount of govt intervention can 'solve' it... As for who needs to benefit from reservation, I agree with you... But then 'meaningfully' identifying the right people is hard work for governments, mate! So practically it's difficult to bring in that level of sophistication in the approach of the parliament... Judiciary may be more capable of something like that!

Scrap reservation
by sg sg on Jan 10, 2008 04:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its absurd that even after 60 years we have to reply on reservations and havent achieved much. So it is the right thing to keep it, I say not scrap it and make it mandatory for all children to go to school which will be funded by the state govts, and will be indepentedly verified as to what si the level of quality that is being taught. We have to get more teachers with better pay scales to keep them motivated and improve infrastructure. Keeping doling out free seats and tv is not going to make them have a sence of the value of the seat and a sence of pride. All in favor of reservations are enemies of the people.

Beware of Brahmins.
Predominantly they are like Grima in 'The Lord of the Rings'.
They have intrinsically mastered the art of 'manipulating' and 'using' people since 12th century.

Exactly, lets bring 69% reservations to cricket. 8:3 ratio. So if a reserved candidate takes 1 run its to be counted as 2, while if its 4 then its 6 and if its 6...then he's man of the match may be??? He cannot be declared out by a single bold/catch/lbw or run out. Hmmm...lets bring reservation...INDIA IS GROWING

FC's should have the reservation
by Surender Singh on Jan 10, 2008 04:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Assuming 100 people write an exam, out of that OBC students would be 88 and FC studnets would be 12. So the probability of the seat going to an OBC student is much high (88/100) and probability of the seat going to an OBC student is much low (12/100). SO shouldnt the FC's be having the reservation?

brahmins are 6% in tamilnadu and can decide the fate of 11 assembly constituency seats (6 in chennai, two in tiruchi, one in kumbakonam,1 in madurai and thanjavur)which last time went to
AAIDMK of jayalalitha party.this is not becouse
she did any favour to brahmins but did not trouble/tease/discriminate them.brahmins 6% are the only few castes left out in quota system while 90% people are under quota.inspite of this
fact, brahmins worked hard to get educated and left and settle in better position like jews in isreal.so quota system will push the mentality of other communities to backward inferiority
in outlook unless they work hard and not using quota banner and follow the challanges in open
competition.it is high time other hindu castes
friends/brothers do not trust politicians and go
in merits for their better honourable future.

I am writing this out of sheer aganoy as in my days there used to be only 8 engineering colleges and unless u get 95%, u wont get through. Mediocre people like me who cud get only 91% will have to end us doing physics or somethng like that and loose focus in studies and become very mediacre in life. i knpw lot of people are doing well without reservation but they are so only becoz they are the best. What happens to sub best people who can only write this kind of mails.

as long as low caste hindus enjoy quota,it is okay becouse they were oppressed by what you call high caste hindus.but can not accept converts of low caste from hinduism to allen christianity and islam to ripe the benefit by changing the religion for the sake of money/job
and claiming again quota in education/job meant
for hindus only on above count.
as hindu unity is prime importance,no higher caste hindu will not make any hue and cry as long as this low caste hindu remain as HINDU
(no caste tag to be mentioned anymore)but can not accept those converts to ride on the back of hindus for the benefits meant for them.

The question is not about PAYBACKTIME but who enjoys reservation. Can our system let rich among lower caste people to enjoy reservation if their forefathers have enjoyed it. For exampl, karunanadhi, ramadoss etc are lower caste or OBC. They are rich and have properties. Why do they need reservation for their children? So, in fact, they are denying reservation to genuinely poor OBCs. Even economic criteria have to be taken into consideration.

If you what you say of the cricket (63% brahmin is true), it is not because there is reservation for Brahmins Mr. Moron Rajiv. Many be we want to win the tests and the board selected purely on the basis of their ability. If Karuna is in charge there would not have been any Brahmin-if you eliminate some one because of the caste creed or religion, it is called reverse discrimination-I hope the reservation freaks understand. In America they do not reserve-but employers try to maintain balance voluntarily-equal employment opportunity check out if we are rejecting some one because some is black or brown. In Tamilnadu, you can discriminate against one because he is a brahmin. I and my children have more equal rights in America than in India although I am an Indian.
