Vajpayee does not deserve it, under his leadership India expereinced the worst riots in the post independent India. Gujarat riots are a blot on Vajpayee. He failed to stop the riots and ignored a presendential order to sent miliatry to Gujarat. His son-in-law also absued the PM's office and millions...

Only Shri Narendra Modi deserves the Bharat Ratna for translating Vajpayee's dreams to reality.

You guys always have to think in terms religion all the time. During Nehrus regime also there were riots, he lost Kashmir, one of the Andamon islands, 10 thousand square meters of Land. I am not reducing the personality of Nehru, but if you want to see the bad things you can always find. Your Muslim business if you want to satisfy, Vajpayee opened a bus route to Pakistan

It is not about Hindus and Muslims - I guess you just can't get over that stuff - get a life. The question is was he an able administrator and does he deserve the award? Dont forget terrorist were released/dropped off in a special plane under Vajpayee's rule.
This proposal for Bharat Ratna should have been made by eminent public, rather than a party colleague, good old friend, howsoever deserving may be the case.
Now, this kind of proposals make left leaning intellectuals and media criticize Advani and Vajpayee.
Irrespective of whether any government gives such an award to Vajpayee, his contribution to India's development will for ever be remembered. He was the first one to speak in Hindi in the UN. He made sincere efforts to bring peace in the region. The National Highway Corridor Project was a signal contribution from his government.

There are no eminent public left in India. After independence, all the great people who fought for the liberation were marginalized and ignored. Last vestiges are only Vajpayees.
