Yes it is really funny!

Earlier today, Drive A McLaren correctly mentioned whether Advani is requesting, demanding or begging? It looks like begging though hahahahahahaha

If Vajpayee is really worth Bharat Ratna...the committee might have already given him the award long back!

Adavni is just doing a political stunt.

Hon.Atal Bihari Vajpayee is a veteran parliamentarian and a great leader of masses. He is really eligible for Bharat Ratna award. No doubt!!!!! Lal Krishna Advani may have requested for his nomination, but definitely not a recommendation. Only one question here, Is this award to be given on somebody%u2019s request or is it given after the evaluation and recommendation by the members of an institution? Whether Bharat Ratna is given or not, people in India knows that he already received highest civilian honor, the Padma Vibhushan -&- was named India's 'Best Parliamentarian in 1994. And he served half-a-century to the society and to the nation.

Wrong Person to Request the Bharat Ratna
by on Jan 10, 2008 05:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There is no doubt in my mind that AB Vajpayee was a good administrator and one with good principles. However, the Bharat Ratna seems too much of an award for a politician. Furthermore, LK Advani is the wrong person to request/demand the Bharat Ratna for AB Vajpayee. He went to Pakistan and declared Jinnah a secular man. Who the hell is he to ask the respectable prime minister to give AB Vajpayee a Bharat Ratna quoting that he served well during the Kargil War. If AB Vajpayee deserves the Bharat Ratna, people would've asked for it but they haven't and rightly so. He got the Padmavibushan in '92. If necessary, Padmabushan can be awarded.

For him, rather than Bharat Ratna, I think he would rather want people to remember him as a strong prime minister and with good principles.

if bajpayee was not given bharat ratna till now then from where he suddenly qualifies for this award., this is a shear politics. if at all he was given he was may be eligible 3-4 years back but there is no contribution of bajpayee then after, so he should not be given the bharat ratna.

Vajpay deserves the highest civilian honour
by mallaiah anchoori on Jan 10, 2008 03:18 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

My heart goes with Sri Vajpayee who rightly deserves conferment of "Bharath Rathna for his outstanding qualities of leadership and winning the respect of all his political opponents too.As is correctly said,he was the first prime minister to have continued for the entire term of primeministership in a coalition government in a country like India where every parliamentarian poses to be a self styled leader forgetting their political affiliations some times.Soft spoken and receptive, with all his poetic speeches and talks he could win the love and affection of all whom he came across.Guarded
with every polite word that he uttered either from a public platform or in a private talk,he never slipped his tongue while criticising even his worst political opponents too like Sri P.V. Narsimha Rao.Like several of big leaders of BJP, he never lost his composure and talked any ill of other political parties.Though all most all the prominent BJP leaders made Hindutva as polical plank and slogan,he never fiddled with such cheap tactics. He solidly stood behind the country's leadership during the hours of crisis as Indo Pak war of 1971 regardless of his political affinity and affiliation. He is a person endeared by all Indians irrespective their religions and a fit person for the highest civilian Award of Bharatha Rathna Felicitating him this way,is as good as honouring the entire nation.I pray God and wish Vajpayee a hundred years of age.May the Almighty shower HIS kindness on him

I think the most deserving person for the Bharath Rathna award is The late prime minider Sri P.V.Narasimha Rao. When Our country was in the deepest financial crisis and was on the verge of bankruptcy,he was solely responcible to pull the country out of the murk.

Late Narsimha Rao and Vajpaye are just similar in attitude and approach, they could win the respect of their opponents also despite their choosing two different political parties to serve the country..Both proved as the best politicians who never resorted to cheap tactics and offence to others. For the country's economic boom which is nothing but the offshoot of the economic reforms Rao introduced, nation owes him eternally.More than once,I expressed that he should have been awarded Bhatha Rathna atleast posthumously ,since he was politically implicated in several cases with a view to be marginalised and belittled for the reasons best known to the unscrupulous people of his own party.Leave alone Bharatha award,he was not even treated with due honour even after his death as ex-prime minister of the country. Will the nation excuse the wrong doers? It is said that death levels, yet it ennobles every one.In case of Narsimha, however, his political opponents ignored him even after his death forgetting what all good he did for the nation. Will our beloved Prime Minister Manmohanji who was the Finance Minister in Rao's cabinet and the chief architect of the economic reforms, at least,be kind enough to consider doing some thing commemorative for Narsimha Rao AND to start with conferring Bharatha Rathna to the late Prime Minister?Better late than never!!Narsimha Rao's name needs to be written with golden letters in the annals of Indian history.

Good Politician!
by Unmai Vilambi on Jan 10, 2008 02:48 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All salient points indicate signs of a good politician. Politicians don't deserve awards, Great leaders do. Vajpayee is far from a great leader. He did not stop the killing of a million innocents, did not stop dividing the nation on religious lines. He did not do anything significant during his rule or other times that changed the course of the country, nor did he give a quantum jump in its progress. He was a mute spectator to the gory games of his sangh parivar colleagues.
If ever BR is given to Atal, the award would look cheap like a lolly pop in a petty shop.
