Idiot RK leave the state and go let us see what happens. The funny thing is because your native states sank you rats came here to earn a living, after making some money you start to tell us how we should conduct our activities. Leave the state if you have the guts to go to your native place and restart let us see how much you progress.

Uddhav had just made a statement saying that migrants defame the society. The meaning of this is that people from small cities come to Mumbai, and due to the anonymity this city provides them with, they tend to drift in wrong directions. What is wrong in this statement. Moon Das incident is fresh, would this have happened in Orissa which is her native state. For no reason all you people start screaming and shouting. Also the fact is that Mumbai is bursting at its seams, why do the other governments not develop their states so that people do not have to migrate in such large numbers. Why do you people not question your state governments rather than come here and make unwarranted comments.

Lets break up India
by Samir V on Jan 06, 2008 02:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Lets Break up Indian states into separate nations. So there will be 30 separate nations like Maharastra, Bihar, Tamilland, Bengalland etc etc.
I think then everone will need Passport and Visa to go to other states and that will solve this 'Migrant' issue completely.

cant blame Shiv Sena only. If you look at a broader view, every body doing the same.

But i support shivsena for one thing. the demand to everybody " Respect the culture and be a part of Mumbai. - Respect females and dont ever engaged in any activities disturbing the peaceful life of Families in Mumbai"

let it be anybody, even marathi who break this law, kick him and show him the way

As per media all the culprits are marathi,s why the hell this idiot thakeray is blaming outsiders .He should shut up and try doing good for the nation instead trying to divide the nation. It is due to buffoons like him & his father that Maharastra is not known to be that dynamic as it should to known as.They dont understand the micro & macro economics of the migrants on their economy which is all gain and no pain for the state.Punjab,Gujrat & Maharastra will start stinking without migrants.

No question of the role of MIGRANTS in progressing the MUMBAi.
The contribution of people from outside state were everywhere. IN Developments ( business) and in DESTRUCTIONS (Under world, anti social elements).

But MAHARASHTRA IS not depend on migrants. cities like Pune, NASIK, Nagpur are progressing very well and that is with the major contribution from Maharashtrian business mens.

GN migrants came to Mumbai to earn two square meals per day and to get enought cloth to cover themselves. They have not come here to do a favor to Mumbai. If they really think they are so capable why do they not go their native place and develop them.

the success of business in mumbai credit have to be given to MUMBAI ONLY. there are many other states which have 10 times more coastal areas than mumbai, but they never progressed.

The blessing of Mahalaxmi is always on MUMBAi.

with no fear one can invest his money in mumbai and can do business to earn livelihood.

Mumbai is the best no question about that.
When we give credit to the Maharashtrian business mens to progress cities like PUNE, NASIK, NAGPUR etc.. we must appreciate and thank ful to the PARSIS, SINDHIS, PUNJABIS, South indians who invested money in MUMBAI.

Dear GN what I only say is the migrants have come here to earn a living for themselves, they should not try to project that Mumbai is progressing because of them. Sir Jagannath Shankar Sheth was the biggest philanthropic gentleman who contributed in making and shaping Mumbai, Bhau Daji Lad, and so on and so forth. The businessmen invested money because they knew they would get returns, again I am only saying this that migrants should not talk as if they are doing a favor to Mumbai by coming here.

Nobody is doing any favour to MUMBAI. the one who are there and the one who are coming into mumbai ,, all are for themself only.
let it be marathi, sindhi, punjabi, tamils etc etc. etc - ALL are for themself.

It is only mumbai , which is giving and accepting everybody.

So everybody who want to live in Mumbai, must give importance to mumbai and dont do any act which defame the culture and peaceful living.

Has regional patriotism risen?
by amit on Jan 06, 2008 01:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It has been seen recently that regional patriotism, then be it in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka,Punjab or even Gujarat has grown tremendously. Glad to see that individual states are taking pride in their own culture, but one do have to remember that we all are indians first, but we do have to maintain our individual state's cultural identity, since our diversity lies in individual states, so do not erode that. I feel proud to tell everyone that we have languages representing each state, lets keep it that way

milind, when you talk about maharashtra i will agree with you. As every state give preference to the locals.

Even in kerala they dont allow even traders or employees from TAMIL NADU, irrespective of the fact that 60% of the keralites are working in other states or countries.

Compared to that , maharashtrians are the most tolerent among all INDIANs, who dont throw outsiders out of maharashtra like others do.
the Request to all outsiders is to respect the local culture and be one among us.

But I strongly disagree with the concept of Throwing away all non marathis out of MUMBAI. !!! thats very shameful attitude being supported

Biggest theat to Today's India: Regionalism
by Murli on Jan 06, 2008 01:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The way it is propunding hatred amongst the people all around on the name of pseudo sub nationalism is getting dangerous day by day. Today India is most threatened by regionalism instead of anything else believe me.
I is hollowing us, creating global hatred and undermining the most basic institution of humanity.
In fact today people like Raj Thackrey and Udhdhav Thackeray are more dangerous than kashmiri terrorists to India! They are planting a social bomb which is giving slower death to humanity and integrity here.
Metros are defined only when all ethinicity mix up and come together in which castes regional and religional division takes back seat and development and unity becomes the defining Path. And Mumbai...it was built by n outsider and today it's work force of skilled outsiders which define the huge economy of mumbai..why not any other city like Pune aurangabad become Mumai??? Becuase they have no outsiders or tolerance for them!
Hate those who spread haterd on the name of regionalism Punjabi Bihari UP Tamilians all are equally important to this country if this country has o survive! See pakistan just and think and hate those who spread this haterd!

All states are going the same direction, then be it Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat or Punjab. You call it dangerous and have equated it to kashmir, which i totally disagree. We are bonding within our culture which is essential for keeping the diversity(linguistic/cultural in this case), but our allegiance towards the coutry is unparalleled, and im sure veryone agrees, we may have our own little scuffles, but overall we are bonded more. For a tree to grow unless individual roots get stronger, the tree will fail, its the root getting stronger process thats going on, perfectly natural

Where are Natives of Mumbai gone missing? The EAST INDIANS. !!!

Shivsena must accept the truth that , Original natives for mumbai are EAST INDIANS are not MARATHIS. it is because of the contribution and effort of PARSI's, Gujaratis, Sindhis, Punjabis and South INDIANS mumbai progressed to this fame.

But i strongly deny some messages from members, who feel maharashtra is progressing only because of Mumbai.

PUNE, NAGPUR, NASIK are all cities progressing with the majority of contribution from Maharashtrian business mens.

UNDERSTAND THE MUMBAI .

Historic evidence tells us that early resident of Mumbai caught his quota of fish and shared it with his fellow citizen who was a farmer even before Jesus Christ walked upon this earth. Historians however consider this past not so amusing and hence let it pass.

Common knowledge therefore is that it was once a congregation of seven tiny islands mostly lived in by fishermen and farmers. In the year 1400 it was conquered by the King of Thane ( a throne now unheard of ) soon to have passed in the hands of another ruler. The Mahim Fort, of which few traces are left now, was the ruling seat of these rulers. Considerations of these rulers like their countrymen were different so were their concepts of exploitation. Mumbai therefore continued to grow at snails pace the way any under developed island would grow.

Vaso-da-gama, the Portuguese traveller set his foot at Kalikat in 1453 in a bid to discover New Land. Portuguese rulers slowly explored India and came to acquire a foothold in Mumbai by 1600. Their feellow invaders, the British by that time had started settling in Calcutta and Surat. The way rulers married in those days. Prince Charles of Britain married Princess Chatherine of Portugal in 1661. Mumbai was given to Prince charles as a mariage gift and he became the new owner of Mumbai. Mumbai however coninued to exist the way it did. Fishermen caught their daily quota of fish and farmers tilled in their not so fertile land.
