It is Correct
by DSK Rao on Jan 03, 2008 05:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The decision to postpone elections is correct and this should become a precedent to all countries who want actual democracy. Whenever the masses are emotionally disturbed for what ever the reason, elections should not be held as only emotions(not logic) would be governing the people. ECs should ensure that people are emotionally calm when elections are being held and should cancel/postpone if the conditions are not emotionally condusive

Polls in Pak? Hahahahahahahaha .... how does it matter whether it gets postponed or not? even Mush does not matteractually . Democracy in Pak is already post poned by 1000 years, they live the same old 1000 years back life only having some modern amenities.... So dont worry dear, Pakis will remain same, even if "democracy" arrives as history tells us, not more than 5-7 years, some one from "Fauj" will start ruling again .... hehehhe

Pak Poll - Was postponement a mistake?
by jamsheed abumohammed on Jan 03, 2008 04:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a debatable decision to postpone the much awaited elections in Pakistan. Whether President Mush was right? Its time to analyse the circumstances leading to postponement. May be he thought that the time is not ripe for elections in view of the assassination of Benazir, since it will take time to heal the wounds. But then he has taken various scenarios into consideration including the confidence of the political leaders to hold rallies etc., since as Imran was telling that no one would dare to hold rallies for fear of attack. It is therefore very clear that postponement was taking all these factors into consideration. But then Government sincerity will be tested if the extremists were crushed with iron hands. If this is done the intention of the good will be appreciated or else people may tend to think that this was done to avoid clean sweep by PPP riding high on the sympathy of Benazir's death. President Mush is totally in command of the affairs of the country, it will not matter much who comes to power at the centre as executive powers were rested with the President. All talks of installing a puppet government is nothing but wishful thinking. It is therefore essential for all parties to take part in the elections and restore the rule of law and see that democracy is in full bloom. The problem of extremists is there but it cannot be solved with a magic wand, it has to be tackled tactfully. All right thinking people in Pak should join to crush extremism in its interest.
