human rights and law order mean something in the US because it took them 150 years to imbibe that culture , we are just past 60 and are doing very good already

American knowledge
by Aatmaram on Feb 29, 2008 10:45 AM  Permalink

A worldwide survey was conducted by the UN. The only question asked was: 'Would you please give your honest opinion about solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world ?' The survey was a huge failure... In Africa they didn't know what 'food' meant. In Eastern Europe they didn't know what 'honest' meant. In Western Europe they didn't know what 'shortage' meant. In China they didn't know what 'opinion' meant. In the Middle East they didn't know what 'solution' meant. In South America they didn't know what 'please' meant. And in the USA they didn't know what 'the rest of the world' meant. - This is how Americans behave.

US Whites

Don't be surprised. A simple story that happened about 3 decades ago when US technology was in its pinnacle. I feel the same is true now also.

An Indian visited one of the US schools for inspection. He asked a simple question - who gives milk? One of the boys was bold enough to answer that milkman gives milk.

This is how most of the American children are, because they are living in a technological age and naturally they are poor.

About India among Americans
by victor vijayan on Feb 29, 2008 10:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Americans have better knowledge about India and it s culture. If not they wont give much jobs to software and BPO industries in India. They cleary know India is a most powerful country and indians are knowledgeable persons. The proven thing is many indians are working in USA. How come without knowledge and knowing a foreign language they can survive there. Think of these things. I think you have given the perspective of India by an American from the remote area where communication cannot reach.

I was an Indian and now I hate Indians living in India
by master pharmacy on Feb 29, 2008 10:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I was an Indian. I came to Australia for my PhD. I completed PhD and now an Australian citizen. In the begining I always fought with my colleagues stating India is a great country and we wnjoy a lots of foodie and things like that. I went to India after 1 yr and felt like most of Indian people's nature is like a shit..I was with an old lady (80yrs old) and she was on her weelchair so, I thought to help her as her son was in Kolkata airport to receive her and she was in need of help. In her ticket it as writen assistance required so, all assistance like wheel chair was provided by airlines. When we arrived in Singapore there was a lady to push her wheel chair and I carried her bags with me. When I arrived at Kolkata airport a man came for her help but after pushing her wheelchair asked for money from me. Although I was surprised to see this type of character after living here in Australia, I thought of giving him 200 Rs after he started shouting. He said 200 only???I am not going to leave you. that was a real shit.. any way there were many examples from Indians.. anyway India is a great country but Indians have really a sick mentality.

So I do now know that the entire Aussies continent is infected with cheats and since you too gelled well with them I can count you too among them, isn't it????

I agree with Mr: master pharmacy, Just give a serious thought about it. Do we Indian really are courtseous enough? Do we give way to others if someone is helpless? How many times we spare our seat in bus to a physically challanged? I've seen other airports in India but no body behaves like the workers in Kolkata airport do. They behave either like a beggar or a goon.

We have huge population. We cannot except the same humanity from everyone in India. We have great people like Gandhi, Kalam, etc. Now people in the western countries are trying to follow our culture. This is just an incident.

Germans visiting India
by Abhijeet on Feb 29, 2008 10:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The writer had rightly pointed out the ideas of what outside world thinks of India.Recently my German colleagues were in India. Even they thought that India is full of poor people, stray dogs. BUt they had a diff picture once they arrived in Mumbai. But during our local visit to Nasik from Mumbai, they were amazed to see the traffice (indisciplined(, surprised to see people hanging out of local trains and enjoyed it as well. They found cattle coming across vehicles on the highway very funny and they had expected it since they have read all thi stuff about India in there country. And when they realy saw it, it was a funny experience for they.
By and large at the end of the tour , they had some good memories and well well wishes for India.

Mumbai is the worst city in India! A 3rd world city (African city if you please) by all standards. So if the journey from Mumbai to nasik was worse, I am afraid Maharashtra needs a major uplift. If an external visitor needs to get a better sense of developing India, Delhi, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, even Lucknow (which has improved a lot in recent times) are the cities to visit.

The Difference
by on Feb 29, 2008 10:38 AM  Permalink

Ask an American living in California, where is Colorado State (North/South/center to california). Pick someone well-educated and high up in corporate ladder. You should not be surprised to get an answer " My Geography is not very good". I have experience!
I know my sis's kid, back in India, in 2nd standard can locate all states in India, and all districts in my State!....

That is the kind of difference.

Ignorance about Bharat
by on Feb 29, 2008 10:36 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have lived in USA for six years & for three years in S'pore and you tend get these questions from a lot of people there. In the mid-west in USA people are so ignorant that one of the most frequently asked question to me "How can you speak such good english?". But over the years i have realised that it not their fault, much to blame are the british people who in spite of knowing the depth of the Indian culture & our spiritual intelligence have purposefully not educated even their own countrymen forget about the rest of the world. Ofcourse there is a similar reason for the USa too, India was Russia's friend all along and this had put off the americans so much that they decided to shut us out fom their history and instead teach their children that "Iraq is the cradle of civilisation" which is absolutely balderdash. But apart from these reason I have realised that the Indians are also to blame for not having any sort of programme or propoganda to educate teh world about us. Inspite of having a dvierse and rich culture in our own Bharat we are so greedy to learn abotu americans, autralians & eurpoeans and want to imitate them so much that there is hardly any time for being ourselves forget abotu educating others.
