Appears that the issue is too much stretched. Majority of the world know about India and its people, I agree they may not have a very good opinion due to poverty, indiscipline, and internal troubles here and there. Though everyone is responsible for such situation, but main responsibility is of the Govt. that even after 60 years of independence, they could not erase the impression.
Dear Dhruv, Three cheers for you. Confidence and Sensitivity like yours is needed much in today's Indian teenager to know different aspects and coluorful renditions of India ..be it urban India or poor India.India has maximum creativity and deep rooted culture to feel proud of.Good luck!Educate Americans as a young Indian ambassador.JAI HIND!!!

Don't you think this is partially true actually for not using left hand and we always PREFER to use right hand for eating and other good work. But we could easily reply that wiping shit with toilet paper only and not using water after that is even MORE unhygienic practice and therefore in west nobody uses hand for eating. They have many other very unhygienic practice like dipping used spoon in common food bowl or testing directly from spoon and again dipping it in the pan etc. Everybody visiting foreign countries will understand that at least the middle/upper class Indians are actually more clean than many rich foreign countries and we cannot think of taking bath (even at 0 deg C) once a week.
In spite of the flaggering technological progress America has made, the overall American population is very foolish. They take what others say; Obama preaches against 'outsourcing' and they are upbeat about it...they do not really try to get deeper and understand that if US stops outsourcing, the economu will plunge into further recession & more people will lose jobs. In spite of being the land of affluents, the general public lacks brain, probably a fallout of the affluence in the society. Once in Pretoria, I have heard the local people say the same, someone expressing his surprise after coming back from US as people asking whether lions roam in the cities as well...huh!!And biggest proof being their president Bush...who goes around flaunting his power..killing people.Land of fools!!

their affluence has come only from selling weapons and forcing countries to war. I fully agree that although because of money power they are going ahead with research works but average Americans are foolish. the cry against outsourcing / imposing dumping duty over foreign goods by America is nothing but Dadagiri because they are the people who actually forced countries like India (or bribing our nasty politicians) to allow foreign products by reducing import duty. But because of our cheap and skilled workforce it has become a boomerang for them.
I think these people are very ignorant about world affairs, a average Indian students know better about world affairs then there European and USA counterparts...they r still having century old image of India...we cannt help there ignorance...just can smile on them
As an American living in California, where is Colorado State (North/South/center to california). Pick someone well-educated and high up in corporate ladder. You should not be surprised to get an answer " My Geography is not very good". I have experience! I know my sis's kid, back in India, in 2nd standard can locate all states in India, and all districts in my State!....
