Funny...
by Narayan Venkatishvar on Feb 28, 2008 03:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In the article, one aspect that caught my attention was that "Incidentally, the only redeeming feature in the Lok Sabha was that Finance Minister P Chidambaram was allowed to present the Economic Survey 2007-08 in the House proceedings without any disturbance"... I am not surprised by this because, majority of these MP's in the House do not understand a thing when it comes to such Economic & Financial topics & hence are clueless to even utter a word in the subject....
Tudos to our Great MP's!

Don't tell me that! The hon'ble members know very well the economics of their reelection, and how to finance the same. In this aspect their fundas are very clear.

Disruptive methods
by Suresh Bhave on Feb 28, 2008 03:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Speaker has rightly pointed out that the oposition should play its role as opposition by taking meaningful part in the discussions. The opposition is not endearing itself even to its supporters like me by such tactics. There are many areas in which UPA government has failed miserably and, with intelligence and patience the opposition could make capital out of it. There are several past sins of the present day rulers that need to be discussed threadbare, which the opposition is failing to do. It seems that the political class as a whole is bored with running the government and the parliament. The parliament sessions seem to be essential burden that they have to bear for the privileges that they enjoy at the cost of the people. The show must go on seems to be their only concern, not out of any loyalty for the show, but for making the show of being true demicrats. If the opposition is not participating, why don't the ruling allaince members discuss the issues thoroughly so that bills are not passed without discussion and enlightenment of the people of the country who are presently silent spectators to the hihacking of the country by egtistical and selfcentered politicians? That would truly be in the spirit of democracy. But that cannot be because that will involve homework and keeping away from pleasures to which they are addicted. As for the opposition, they should know that sensible people are leaving your noisey bandwagon.

If we see live debate in parliament, the MPs of UPA always disturb opposition leaders to put their speeches for any good point.rulling parties are scared to reply.

Sure, but then how will it help to disturb the proceedings to get their reply. I am saying exactly that both, the ruling and the opposition parties are not interested in the functioning of the Parliament at all, all they want is to enjoy at the cost of the people.

Not an over the board waiver
by subramanian sevgan on Feb 28, 2008 03:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I agree that in some cases were the farmers have been affected by severe natural calamaties or in case which might be deemed unavoidable the government can go for a partial loan waivers. However complete loan waiver and over the board waivers will only default farmers from repaying back the loans which is very essential for maintianing the economic health of our country.

'You are working overtime to finish democracy'
by Sudheer Parakala on Feb 28, 2008 03:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a sad reflection of our state of affairs. We elect uneducated street-side hooligans and put them in Lok Sabha. What else can we expect? Either we make strict laws for electind educated scholors or we need a strong hand to whip these hooligans if they don't behave.

It is actually smart move by the opposition. Probably they came to know the loans would be waived anyway in the budget. So just by putting pressure on the government before budget they can tell the people post budget that we made the government to waiver farm loans.

Commies better shut up
by Bhaskar Nateshan on Feb 28, 2008 03:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I remember that in the late 60's priya theater in calcutta was set on fire by communists bcos it was screening a movie 'Shatranj' 'an anti China movie'. This was after the Chinese illegally acquiring much of our lands in the north east. The anti democratic and anti Indian communists have no rights to criticize any other party or set of people. They are the worst scums on the face of this planet. Only an opportunistic party desperate for power, having no self respect or scruples and ruled by a foreigner like congress wud want to align themselves with an anti Indian party like the communists. I am not a BJP partyman but they are certainly way above these two set of jokers communists and congress.
So in short, somnath has no right to accuse any member of parliment when his clan hapen to be the worst and everone else pales in comparison to them.
