What is democracy?
by Ramesh Kapoor on Feb 28, 2008 07:52 PM  Permalink

The late I.S. Johar, an actor, defined in Q&A, a column he regularly used to write in the Filmfare, that democracy was the rule of the "white topi, for the white topi and by the white topi," the white topi that Pandit Nehru, and the Congress part members adorned those days. So, now the democracy is appeasing certain quarters of the population at the expense of others. It would do well to define democracy as the WILL of te few over the others. The UPA is a political alliance of many parties, and cannot claim to be a majority on its own.

'You are working overtime to finish democracy'
by RANGANATH on Feb 28, 2008 05:56 PM  Permalink

The shoe is now totally on the other foot. The conduct of the Communist parties when NDA was in power was no better than what the Speaker now describes. The Parliament was stalled frequently even then.

Mr. Somnath - have you measured your girth?
by bhimsen on Feb 28, 2008 05:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Can you tell my why is your girth bigger than jyoti basu, buddha, karat et al?

Your girth defies all logic about communist who are supposed to represent malnourished poor human beings basically one of them. But you look like a portly well fed with scant regard to the ideology represented by your party.

What a mealy mouthed man.

Parliament versus Supreme court
by jainendra kumar on Feb 28, 2008 05:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Somnathjee,

is there any comparision between Parliament and supreme court ? u leave no opportunity to critisize court and honourable judges while always praising parliment .But in actual it is just reverse. Come on sir, the time is just running out for the bloody politician across all the parties.U just can't suppress the voice of common man.Definately there will be revolution in this country when all the politicians whether congress or BJP or SP or RJD or CPI or DMK or Shiv-sena or AIADMK with sole motive of coming to power and looting this country by dividing the country in the name of religion, language, caste or creed or color will be thrown out of this country. It is better to have meritocracy like Singapoer than lootocracy as we see in india .Time is not far off.

by Solidus on Feb 28, 2008 04:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Undear Mr. Chatterjee,
Enough is Enough!

You senseless politicians can never realise that Next to God, it is The Judiciary, an Indian has faith in.

It is astonishing to learn about your beliefs in scrutinising the petitions and not increasing the number of judges. Your non application of mind on the issue, makes people of India learn that you intend to hamper the Judicial System for the sake of your dirty politics and unfair governance. It is a well-known fact that most people dont even have The time, The money, The Resources and The Energy needed to appeal to the courts and contest their cases. They are just too occupied at earning their livelihood and keeping their housefire burning.

But each endurance has a limit
You have to Go! As the revolution is about to begin
