Mixing GREED and PRIDE led to SUICIDE
by sanjay kumar on Feb 27, 2008 01:43 PM  Permalink

Economic growth in agriculture sector has been low for years. There are many reasons for that, government particularly the architecht of 'green revolution' is one of them.
In order to beat this low growth trend some farmers in developed agricultural regions resorted to debt funding. When gambit failed, they opted for suicide.

Farmers are in bad shape
by Sincere Citizen on Feb 27, 2008 01:34 PM  Permalink

First in Andhra and now in Maharashtra its been going on possibly in other states too.

The govt. must figure out as to why farmers are forced to take loans, this cause should be rectified first only then such instances will stop. No point in giving loan relief etc.

Find out the cause for loans and fix it, to my knowledge and whatever I have heard from my farmer friends they dont need to take loans to do farming so then why is this happening ? is someone cheating the farmers ? if yes then who ?

Organic Farming & Traditional Watershed techniques
by DSK Rao on Feb 27, 2008 01:31 PM  Permalink

Fertilizers & Pesticides are costly inputs which force poor farmers into debt and also poison surface & ground water besides harming the ecological balance. Need of the hour is to encourage Ecologically, Economically & Socially viable Organic Farming using things like Manure, Vermicompost, Multiple Crops, Local Traditional Irrigational methods & watershed management techniques besides locally proved seeds.

Like carbon credits or Fertilizer subsidy, Government should give incentives to these Organic Farming farmers.

Ofcourse it rquires a political will and raising above the lobby of MNC GM Seed companies, Fertilizer Companies and Pesticide companies.

India falls into the hands of religious terrorism. Everything is to capture reign. Dalits/Christians/Muslims/social activists/artists etc. are being attacked very cruelly. In a few years, these viruses will become mature terrorists.

Can we shun these old parties and get some new people to rule the nation?
by Murli on Feb 27, 2008 12:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If Congress and Left are on the verge of sell the nation...the BJP and Thackray kinda guys are on the verge of burning the nation from inside!
None of them are different, but at least congress still remembers the ruling philosophy while BJP and Thackrays know only how to cash on unwarranted emotions and hate politics.
No doubt that congress and company do appeasement politics and behind divided country on the name of religion but BJP is also the same.
Why not action is being taken over Maharastra government for recent anti-migrants episode and why BJp as an opposition did not pressurize it despite of the fact that BJp rules in most of these migrant states!

This is high time in fact to throw away these parties and look for newer options. Dont vote at all till you find a good cadidate really regardless of party. Select your local well known neighbourhoods to unite and select honest person to fight election.
If not in villages, at least from metros and cities we can start doing so..changing the face of nation...otherwise these dogs will chew the country.

Mr Murli.
Raj Thackarey was already arrested what more do you want ? why no action is being taken on DMK leaders or for that matter Bihar MLA's who have looted their state and forced the people to migrate for work.
Use logic dont just blame SS/BJP, hate politics is played by all. Just that some people have tendency to blame SS and BJP.
Many Maharashtrians criticized the way anti north campaign was done and many suggest that the northern states should improve and give better life to their people.
You tend to selectively blame some people.

You are attempting to look like someone who is not baised , you are actaully a Congress supporter pretending to be an unbiased citizen !
First get your data rught . The Maharastra government the you 'pulled up' did act against Thackeray ! The migrant population that MMS is fighting is from UP and Bihar ! God knows where you got Rajastan !
The BJP attacked Raj Thackeray . And if you read newspapers Raj Thackray attacked BJP in the strongest terms about Advani's Rath Yatra and Modi's 2002 issue.
By the way since you share your name with MM Joshi are you also related to him ? Not my logic your logic .

abe Murli, most of the crap that we see in Indian is due to congress right from the 15th Aug 1947. Congress is the one who has played "divide n rule"politics ; nobody promoted nepotism and corrpution like Congress..
So stop bullshiting without facts.. all the parties except BJP (upto certina extents) are offshots of Congress . After the 1969-70 when congress was divided.. Truly speaking, Congress followed stupid sociliast poclicies for decades, created the regionalism by dividing states on the basis of language, ignored farm sector by following controls. Corruption was leagalised by Congress. India lost more that 33000 sq km of territory to China/Pak; gave all the territorial gains back in 1965,1971..All under congress.. Indian debt ballooned to more than 125 billion dollars under Congress regime.. Budget deficeit rose to > 5% under (in 1978 the budget was balanced).. 60 years of independence Congress ruled for most of the years.. So who is to be blamed for the misery of the poors..or for the mess we are heading to. India has > 125 crore population , food security is doubtful, with agriculture land falling each year, energy security is doubful as Oil heads for 125-150 usd/bbl range.. I am not sure why you drew the conculsion that Congress has been good!!!
