the problem with indian system of college education is that , ur admission into an iit is totally dependent on the 3hrs of examination. Watever work u would have done earlier including some great extra-curricular activities like participating in NASA quizzes , social service is totally ignored....
ur life totally hinges on those 3 hrs....if u goof up on a couple of questions...boy,ur life is doomed....if ur lucky to have a dad with a lot of money to send u to a good coaching institute then nothing like it...just think abt pupils who r not fortunate enough to have money....and coupled with 50% reservation scheme makes it all the more impossible to get in.
anyways...selecting only 1000-2000 ( general category ) people out of a pool 300,000 is in itself a big joke.

Well said. Indian's for some reason strongly believe in scores over experience. Ironically indians who have most succeeded have the least scores or never even bothered to take the exams.
