This is getting ugly and we are going nowhere
by a a on Feb 22, 2008 11:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Guys, this is getting ugly. As Shahrukh said, we all are saying things, which we don't mean. This forum should be to debate and discuss not to spread hatred. Both Maharashtrians and Non Maharashtrians need to understand this.
If you are a Non Marathi and using filthy language against Marathi%u2019s then you are also fit to be in the category of haters. It goes for Marathis. We maharashtrians are proud people and always put the nation before anything else. Then why this parochial schizophrenic behavior now?
Raj and his ilk thrives on fear and we are certainly not putting a united front against the politicians of his type. We are Indians and will always remain Indians. Conduct a survey in Maharashtra and you will find that everybody loves India and this talk of separate nation is all disgusting. And everybody is over reacting, which is again a typical Indian trait. Think about it guys, we don't need a civil war between brothers.

I am a non-Maharashtrian i.e.do not live in Maharashtra. I think Marathis are great people with great traditions and culture and have contributed a lot to the making of India. The real problem being faced by them are that they are not getting economic benefits from the development of Maharashtra. This is a genuine problem but it cannot be solved by creating hatred and lawlessness. This will destroy the prosperity of Maharashtra and they will then get nothing. They should seek and ways and means to participate more in the economic activity. I don't think Marathis want to drive taxis and work as labourers since they are perceived to be more advanced than the poor labourers from elsewhere. What is the point of driving these people out when they are contributing to the economy and doing jobs which no one else wants?

The major problem of our country is so many languages we speak. There should be one and only one language, this will keep us united. Since we have so many "so called diversified cultures" this is bound to happen. When people of same regional language speaking states meet, they start speaking in their native language without giving a damn if people around them can%u2019t understand. This is true for all Indians not only just Marathis. We must first change this attitude and government should impose forcefully and very strictly to have a unified language, then only this regionalism, Bihari, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali etc. will be corrected. People should see %u201CChak de India%u201D and learn the lesion from it. Why do you think the Western countries developed, mainly because they speak one language and thus help each other to form a better country, so please as Indian we should leave this nasty regionalism and should help each other get united and form a better India

Jai Hind.

Hindi speaking people, please have some sense.

Either develop your home states and assimilate to the culture where you migrate to fill your belly.

if u don't do either one of them, then you would be the looser. Don't believe in the notion that Hindi is the national language. there is no national language in India. come of the ignorance and find the truth

People should look at the root cause and not the symptom - if balkanisation happens it will be due to large scale imposition of Hindi and Hindi speaking people on the rest of the country. We should realise that it is insecurity due to threat from Hindi and Northies that will trigger the balkanisation of this country. Either stop large scale migration from overpopulated and underdeveloped Hindi speaking states that will dilute local cultures and wipe them our or make it a law for migrants to make an attempt to assimilate better with their hosts (not by arrogant "Hindi mein bolo" demands, but by learning the local language, adopting local political parties, etc.) if they want to enjoy the economic fruits.

SC decision...
by Neelesh Jha on Feb 22, 2008 10:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear All,
SC decision is as per the law. But practically, we all know that son of soil theory does exist and will always be there. And it is not just in mumbai but everywhere in india. Most of the people on this forum speak either too ideologistic or totally foolish. Also I think lot pakistanis are taking advantage of these type of situations and add fire to the fuel. The only solution to this problem is "Development of UP and Bihar". Same thing had happened in mumbai against south indians in 60s. Now that south indian states are improved, the migration is less and now maharashtrians are accepting south indian migrants. The localites should not get a feeling that you are burden on them and their city.
How can we forget that Delhi which is north indian state/city also had shared same feelings...so please be matured and think realistic...please don not place abusive messages against each other...
Polititians will always try to play with our emotions. Thakres are doing it with maharashtrians. All these lalu, mulayam, mayavati etc have doing this since ages. They are our real enemies of north indians. Only way to change is development of our own state and for that we need to change ourself. We have to change our attitude.

What else do you expect from this guy who has lived and learned under the most nototious goonda, The infamous Bal Thackeray himself. The rotten apple does not fall far from the tree. And I do not expect the Marathi people in Mumbai to do anything about this either, because driving out non-Maharashtrians from Mumbai benefits them all. But have they thought what will be left in the financial capital of India, if all the non-Maharashtrians left. This should give them something to think about.

For whom the bell tolls
by rohit on Feb 22, 2008 10:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is so sad . Marathis at one time had a national vision and were in the forefront of the struggle to make us a nation. Remember great leaders like Gopalkrishna Gokhale and Tilak. Raj Thackerey and his ilk have totally destroyed the high respect in which Marathis were held all over the country. No one disputes that Marathi should be the prime language in Maharashtra least of all North Indians who are just poor labourers trying to make both ends meet. Raj has only shown that he is not only a cheap gutter politician but also anti national and has gone against the teachings of Maharashtra's great leaders like Tilak and Gokhale. No one should feel happy about what is happening to the north Indians. Remember.." do not ask for whom the bell tolls..it tolls for thee"

North India/South India
by True Indian on Feb 22, 2008 10:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We all leave no choice in blaming 'North Indians'. But who is a north indian? In context of South Indians, NI includes people of Maharashtra too (some even call them Aryans). Now with Marathi issue, UP Bihar has been put into this group. Its absolutely rediculous. UP Bihar is part of Central India and even if UP Bihar is NI, arent there Rajasthani, Harya, Punjabi, Delhi? Tomor Punjabis will frive out UP Biharis saying that all South Indians should be kicked out of Punjab. LOL

You are idiot Rohit and incorrectly refering to Tilak and Gokhale. Gokhale was in 19th century and Tilak was in early 20th century. Problems have changed and so the complexity. You can't compare the situation.

Basic point here is, what the leaders of UP and Bihar are doing? Thats our vision for Bihar and UP. Why no one is talking about that????
