People will be begging Musharraf to stay on after 6 months
by Secular India on Feb 20, 2008 12:02 PM  Permalink

when they see the political horse trading and corruption of Mian Nawaz and Mr 10% in action to loot the nation.

Musharraf brought technocrats to rule the country who gave the country good growth for last few years and kept Talibanisation at bay. Musharraf represented the liberal and modern face of Pakistan. Musharraf was a person who moved from delhi after partition and had not local roots and hence was immune to local power issues.

General has not rigged the election!!!!! Hence is surely more credibility than politicians
by S Narain on Feb 20, 2008 12:02 PM  Permalink

General Musharaf has many good things for Pakistan!!!!
.. better growth for Pakistan during his rule
...He has been calling spade a spade, most of the time ,which I personally respect
...he has taken on the radical and jehadi elements ,head on ,which shows his forward looking state of mind
... His records are not good in case of kasmir due to to his domestic compulsions, but surley Indias own record is also very poor in handling Kashmir and internal security..

I wish a peaceful Pakistan & wish them all the best.
I am also worried about the poor handling by our own UPA govt or rather mishandling of our own internal & external security ,paerticularly our home minsiter seem to not to be serious about serious issues like threats within & without ,purely due to political reasons.
I hope we are not caught unawre when we seem to be getteing too hyped by economic strides made by Indian ,it is like a stockmarket bubble which may burst any time.So let us beawre

Popullar speeches can win election only
by arp on Feb 20, 2008 11:56 AM  Permalink

Popular speeches can help to win election only.Prez Mush tried his best for economy of pak, fight against terror. He is mohajir but honest to pak.Look in india election can win by popular commitment which never good for development or security for country. In any democracy in world only honest, strict, nationalist and visionary leader can do better for their county men.In pakistan corrupt parties won.

Army won't let him quit
by Secular India on Feb 20, 2008 11:56 AM  Permalink

Musharraf is the only guy who can keep the corrupt Nawaz Sharif and Mr 10 % Zardari under control. Democracy in PPP was a big sham - whatever Mohtarma Benazir used to say was the law and no one would dare speak a word against her when she was around. ran the show like a true autocrat - remarkable though for a woman in Pakistan - but a not a good model of democracy. Nawaz Sharif is a very dangerous man- his support base is largely businessmen and mullahs- and he would even implement Shariat ( like last time he tried ) in order to be in power.

Elections
by satyen hora on Feb 20, 2008 11:52 AM  Permalink

"Elections? What elections. I am still the boss. Head or tail - you are always going to be the looser" says so Mushi my next door neighbour. When will these polticians learn the real poltics is for up-liftment of ordinery people and for whom they should br striving. What you have are land- lords, vaderas, genrals, cheiftains, mullas and so on who only know how to use an ordinery simple Pakistni to their advantage. Pakistanis will never be allowed to know what democracy and freedom means and will always be subjugated by their own masters.

MUSHRAAF IF CORRECT, HE SHOULD NOT QUIT
by ramdassamarth on Feb 20, 2008 11:49 AM  Permalink

ONE SHOULD FORGET THAT HE ONLY DECLARE ELECTIONS INSPITE OF TROUBLES AND DISTURBANCES BY WAY OF KILLING, BOMB EXPLOSIONS BY TERRPROSTS AND RELIGIOUS FANATICS. OTHER PARTIES ALSO WERE NOT READY FOR ELECTIONS UNDER THE FEAR THAT MUSHRAAF MAY NOT HOLD FAIR ELECTIONS. BUT SINCE VICTORY OF OPPOSITION PARTIES SHOWS THAT ELECTIONS WERE FAIR. WHY ALL PARTIES ARE AFRAID OF ONE PERSON , MUSHRAAF. IF YOUR MOTO IS WELFARE OF COUNTRY AND COUNTRYMEN THEN PEOPLE WILL DEFINETLY SUPPORT YOU. IN POLITICS REVANGE IS NOT SOLUTION BUT FORGIVE AND FORGET, LET THE PEOPLE THINK. BY QUITING THE OFFICE HE SHOULD NOT RUN AWAY BUT HE SHOULD FACE THE OPPOSITION. THAT'S WHY HE IS RIGHT.
