India is not an immigrant country - it is only for those who think themselves Indian. If you are not able to consider yourself Indian, then just get out of this country - we don't want you here and don't want to listen to you. Who cares you are a Nawaab or a begger - if you are pakistani in your mind, get last to your country.

idiot, pilotless planes meant just for surveillance, if shot down, would probably save a life.
Its first 6 feet then it becomes 60 feet and final 600 feet.. You have to test the technology first.. And yes R&d is a money sucking business hence U have only one dominating operating system in the whole world..
USA has used these airarafts to take care of Al Qaida successfully. India can do the same. This is a great addition to India's arsenal. India can perhaps take out Dawood Ibrahim.

A remote controlled 6 feet long toy plane has been tested ...of course indigenously developed by our country ...such a great achivement after years of hardwork and spending millions...whom are u taking for ride...??For past 50 years we bought junk from Russia ...and now this..with kickbacks and bribe ....we dream of making India safe ! No wonder we lost to China in 62...the naked truth is we are in no position to win a war with China altough our brave soldiers are the bravest one ..i agree ...hats of to them....but with such toys in hand we can keep dreaming of great defense....arey bhai... build a missile that can shoot erratic spy satellites ....focus on such things....stop playing with remote controlled toys.....it sounded so stupid when i compared the shooting of spy staellite with this news!

James,
Innovation for the sake of innovation is useless. Every innovator must keep the PURPOSE in mind. For India, it probably happens to be a a microweight plane that can be easily and CHEAPLY re-produced. May be so cheap that we can produce thousands of them in a year..

Why is shooting a satellite such a great achievement from India's point of view? Surely improving our border reconissance or terrorist camp surveillance ability is more important than shooting spy satellites?
You may have heard of the Predator aircraft that has been responsible for eliminating a number of terrorists. Well that is also a remote controlled pilotless aircraft.
In short, this is a good achievement, not to be mocked. Although a flight time of 30-35 minutes does feel awfully short - I suspect it will be improved in future versions.

R&D Institutes in India are nothing but a huge money sinking mechanism. I'm sure with the money spent on this costly toy, we could have bought 5 working pilotless aircrafts from Israel or France and that too in half the time spent on development. I think it's time our DRDO is made into a BPO. Saves lot of tax money!! Apologies / Salute to genuine scientists like our honourable APJ Kalam.

Will you keep buying weapons from US or Russia or Israel, or France for ever. We need to develop the technology on our own. Rome was not built in a day. It will take some time to build something new . Why don't you join the DRDO and serve nation. You guys just talk do nothing. Americans went through this situation long back and are now ruling the world.

Alright...dear friend...i find this toy plane useless when it comes to your application..to fight such issues we need to recruit informers , spies and info network, commns and so on...can your toy plane prevent explosions in Mumbai suburb trains, Gokul Chat or in High court premises....what would you do with this even it can penetrate deep behind enemy lines and can send you images...we get all that from our satellites....i think you just want to feel proud thats all...so would i ...but on concrete grounds....imagine if they have the ability to blast a projectile not even in earths atmosphere but outside that ...do u think we stand a chance! i am not mocking Lakshya ...but its not worth quoting anywhere. Kids in my colony fly such remote toys and u can very well attach a wireless cam to its base and navigate Delhi for hours...for Rs 5000/- !!!Thank you and no hard feelings.

You are just thinking super and why don't you join the DRDO and serve the nation. Nation needs the scientist like you to make a Pilot-less aircraft with a budget of RS. 10,000.

Just a correction: They ARE going to have to wait for the satellite to enter earth's atmosphere.
