PUNE: A case of cheating has been registered against three people for duping ICICI bank,

Bhandarkar road branch of Rs 21 lakh.

The complaint was registered by one Sanjiv Shatavir Patil (32), an employee of ICICI bank,

against Gaurav Shravan Sharma, Sujit Sudhakar Ghangale and Vishal Gaghale at Deccan police

station. Ghangale has been arrested.

We are all Indians first
by harish nair on Feb 17, 2008 05:37 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If we proceed the way we are presently creating divisions along narrow caste, communal and regional lines it won't be far before we break up into 600 countries like the principalities conquered by the British and instead of becoming an economic super power we will be at the bottom with even Sierra Leone ahead of Indian states. Had partition never happened we would have made much more progress. When rest of the countries are exploring unification (like one Europe), we are busy devising ways to create divisions in the Indian Union and repeate history. Only this time we'll be slaves to some Osama Bin Laden or his cronies! Shame on us! I feel ashamed of calling myself an Indian!

RSS and Siv Sena do not believe so. What can you do? They think we are hindus first or marathis first etc. Don't pay any attention to them.

I agree totally with you... The RSS and Shiv Sena are the cause of all evil in the country. They mislead people and fill their own pockets. They are like snakes. The writer gives a biased view.

PUNE - If you live in these areas, beware!
by Abhi Anand on Feb 17, 2008 05:34 AM  Permalink

PUNE: Citizens better watch out, particularly if you live any of the 18 localities which has been identified by the city crime branch as %u2018most prone%u2019 to house break-ins and thefts (HBTs).

An analysis of 1,300 HBTs reported in 2007 by the crime branch has revealed that it is not just the fringe areas, such as Chinchwad village, Nigdi, New Sangvi, Dhankawadi and Mithanagar, but upmarket areas like Shivajinagar, are also prone to house break-ins. These are the localities that figure prominently in the list prepared by the crime branch.

Other areas include Pimpri-Chinchwad New Town Development Authority (PCNTDA), Bhosari, Hadapsar, Wanowrie, Old Sangvi, Kalewadi, Aundh, Yerawada, Bibvewadi, Tingrenagar and Kondhwa.

In fact, Chinchwad village, Nigdi, PCNTDA, Hadapsar and Wanowrie had reported over 20 HBTs each in 2007.

The remaining localities saw between 10 to 20 cases of thefts and house break-ins last year. There are 50 more areas, such as Sadashiv Peth, Nana Peth, F.C. road, Prabhat road, J.M. road, Sinhagad road, Maharshinagar and Handewadi, among others, which reported between 5 to 10 HBTs in 2007.

The common modus operandi employed by thieves was breaking locks or cutting window grills to enter the house.

Other methods deployed were breaking door latch, use of duplicate keys to open locks and driving holes in the walls of jewellery shops.

Regionalism = racism
by vaibhav adewar on Feb 17, 2008 04:54 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think as we all are discussing abt regionalism
then no one should complain abt racism with indians outside india for being an indian,a brown skin
cuase we are racist ourself
india is not one country, but many different countries in one
so we should respect that and carry it forward
the fact that we still are throwing comments of regianalism to each other over a simple article show that we indian lack a sense of global maturity
we just want to fight against something or someone
first the moghuls
then british
now amoungst us

It is indeed another form of racism that Siv Sena and RSS have been doing for the past sixty years. They were anti Muslim and now Siv Sena is anti everybody except Marathis. Their modus operendi is imbibing the spirit of haterad among brothers and sisters. They think they can come to power by this. Luckily most Indians are more sensible than the.

In the first place why is a RSS guy writing here? Is rediff RSS supported? Second who is condemning whom? RSS condemning Siv Sena is like the mother condemning the child. Third, RSS does not support division of India into regionalistic entities but supports division of India according to religious entities. What kind of argument is this?

India first...
by Shiju Rajan on Feb 17, 2008 04:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is shame that we Indians fight each other. One day I was travelling on a London underground train, I met a guy from Pakistani occupied Kashmir and he was telling me about his anger against Indian Govt. over Kashmir. Also he said one thing, India will disintegrate one day fighting each other based on their region. I told him it wouldn%u2019t happen as we Indians have unity in diversity. But now I see our politicians are doing everything to split our nation, as our enemy wants us to fall. Every Indian should be able work anywhere in India and work anywhere India.

We need to be more patriotic.
