Bangalore is terrible in general. I have been there for full 6 months and really got fed up. Bangalore is excellent as far as weather is concerned, and good companies and salary is concerned. Otherwise its a terrible place.
It is true that IT people work for long hours, but they do have Saturdays off. So, they can catch up with family and friends in the weekend. They should try to find a house near the office to avoid traffic chaos. Eating right is very important. Doing yoga along with family members, whenever possible, is a good idea.

Hello, Of 24 hrs a day you can spend 14 hrs in office, 6 hrs of sleep and rest 4 hours in food and travel. So what are you spending time for in a day?. Finally we will end up spending time in office more than with family and friends. I guess just 48 hours a week is not enough. Family and friends are real stress busters, spend more time with them you will see the difference (may be you have not tried it)

and wat abt company where 10000 employees are working?..... every1 sud put up a tent and stay like nomads 2 avoid traffic chaos is it? Funnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
always try to live near by the work place that too at walkable distance or within 1 or 2 km if affordable, it reduces the traffic related stress, traffic itself and ill effects of pollution related problems and the pollution from vehicle, cuts considerably the money spent on fuel, and gives many more in tangible benifits.
Sir, Mindsets of road users should change. Agreed that it is the lack of infrastructure but it is equally true that there is lack of " live and let live" on the roads of Bangalore. Still you can see people USING the road or footpath for parking vehicles as per their selfish needs without giving a damn to other road users. May be it was okay ten years ago but they must realize and adjust to the situation and also orient to the Metro traffic , that is the ONLY way of survival of all people. Mindsets must change positively.

Govt. has rules for working hrs. Manufacturing industry follows that.
In IT they label you as executive but everybody below a PM rank is just another worker. But since you are an executive, govt rules doesn't apply here.
You've got flexi timing still you end up working 10 to 12 hrs a day. The management promotes a competition among employees in name of performance appraisal / variable pay etc. But basically they trick you to work more.
Most of ppl who joined IT in 90s are suffering now from back problems, neck problems etc due to extended work hours. In US they could have sued the company. Many of these companies pay overtime in the US but in in india that does not happen.
Hope the current generation has a better work life balance.

We need to understand the purpose of our existence, the reason for our growth is not intellect, but high availability of skilled cheap labor . The rich countries expect us to not know of our rights and work like a beast. They don't directly expect us to do it, they expect us to work only from 9-5, but give us deadlines which require lot more effort. While this is one factor, our inability to work hard, and love for leisure, increases the gap between our expectations and our deliveries, This gap leads to frustration and it would later become stress. Hence everybody must get used to proper work ethic
