Two leaders who never became PMs
by on Feb 14, 2008 05:21 PM  Permalink

Nice article.Im sure we wouldnt have had these short sighted leaders if either Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose or Sardar Patel were our 1st PMs. The whole Nehru-Gandhi clan & their short term selfish policies would have been politically marginalised forever. But what will be.. will be.

short term and long term
by ramkrishna on Feb 14, 2008 05:16 PM  Permalink

short term and longterm gains are taught by the politicians and as well as by the money spinners, what is bull market , a company share whenyou buy you have to value it ,you are buying a business that approach is not there, our eyes are closed, forget about that in the recent two to three years everything has gone up particularly the rent and the land value mainly without any addition value, roads are ok, and electrcity and water supply also not up to the mark, forget about the rich and elite what about the common middle class, rent has gone, necessity items has gone up, salar isnot very high for other skilled labours and junior managers except IT industry so government should also plan and see the budget should be favourable to the common man at least

Great Article

Francois has always been forthright in his articles and this article highlights the need of the hour. Short term gains and greed are visible in this generation's mindset. In fact the slowdown projected for this year (IT & Economic) is a fallout of the short term mindset

National interests.
by arungopal agarwal on Feb 14, 2008 04:54 PM  Permalink

National spirit and honest mind can be framed through educational system. We do not have uniformity in our educational insitutions, which can make the people rigid nationalist. It is the duty of Govt. to inculcate these basic habits.
Regarding vision, only leaders and people at the helm of affairs can provide, somehow our leaders are coming as 1. Kisan leader-who never plough fields but are big landlords-fighting for land disputes,2. Labour leaders-indulged in strikes etc.like C-2 etc.,3.Student leaders-not studying arranging Band in colleges 4. like SC?ST leaders, Muslim leaders etc.,etc. as such we have very few visionaries.
Youths are eagerly waiting to change the system, so that everyone gets his due share.

Vision, an honest mind.....

There's only one political party / formation that has the above qualities...and its not presently ruling the country. The rabidly vulgur "secular" electronic media has and continuous to do its best (or should i say worst) to run them down. We also require media that has these qualities

India will loose if people remain as they are...
by faisal tabrez on Feb 14, 2008 04:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is people to blaim not the Govt. Clearly if I wish to be elected I will follow the easiest way to manipulate peoples heart and mind. No doubt it is same everywhere from US to Indonesia. It is public awareness which allows Politician to decide their approach. If people they grow healthier at mind things will automatically improve. Forget about rest of the India if I may do what is right is enough. So let all of us try and take it as personal disgrace that we are not competent just a jocker who loves admiration and loose all values for little benefits.

Thanks.

Faisal..you have gone wrong somewhere in your thought. A government is elected and installed by the public to take care of the nation's progress by bringing healthy policies, good governance without individual selfish motive. It is the Government duty that the citizens do the right thing, co-exist with each other, secularism is maintained everywhere and work towards the progress of the nation.
However, we are left with little choice on selecting the parties to vote - unfortunately, the major national party representatives/leaders lack the integrity, loyalty, sincerety and vision towards developing the nation. they find time only to blame each other, create unrest amongst people by provocating on caste, religion, state, place of birth, discrimination etc. The only one way left for us is to elect young and educated mass to the government who can and will lead the Nation to greater heights.

Hi Chankya,
What you have written makes lot of sense, but still if you delve deeper you will realise that people get what they deserve.

The leader are only from one of us.. and if they are able to step up the ledder and go to this point, it only us who are to be blame.

Its very easy to criticise the govt and the policies but it actually everybody of us who is equally responsible for this.

Germany and Japan bounced back as super-economies even after major destruction, its not govt. its the people of these countries, who r driving these progress.. govt is just a result of it.

So, from now on, even before just applying our Right to criticise the Govt, we should have the duty also to try and correct..atleast dont criticise without making an effort..

Hope we will get better.

-Naresh

Naresh - I totally agree with your points... but the point what I am trying to make is: we have no choice of representatives in the present political system...the same croocked people are being given tickets to get elected (even those criminals who are behind bars are given tickets). Unless a new generation of young politicians emerge, from where will we elect good representatives..
