This the way indira gandhi followed. For her short term gains she destroyed all constitutional institutions by policitising them.In the short term she agained all rubber stamp officials and in the long term it has destroyed all these institutions completely. None of them work courts, police, PWD, and now the current congress is even destroying the election commission. Its just a chance that we are still a nation. Just luck...

You are absolutely true. Indira Gandhi regime, INDIA's progress got side tracked. Nehru somehow at least is patriotic person but INDIRA GANDHI is the main culprit who spoiled our entire country. Had she been worked hard we could have seen lot better INDIA. INDIA has lot of natural resources but because of this dirty politician, she made all GOVT corrupted. I am not sure whether we will get back our country. May be again we may need some revolution like Gandhi did.
You are absolutely right in saying when it comes to short term gains, but the people who are engaged in conversion and who get political benefits out of conversion, they do keeping in mind long term gains, that is making India a christain country by hook or by crook. The hindus who vote them do so by seeing short term gains which parties like congrees dish out,but what they fail to see is their very servival is threated by doing so,as in ORISSA case.
Christains in India suport conversion, thinking it is good India becomes christain majority, but what they fail to take notice is the intolerance fed in the minds of new convert children their systematic brainwashing.Today they have money and political power, tommorow it will be some one else.Today they feel hindus gettig converted to any denomination of christainity is good, but tommorow they will repent the compitition and hatred generated by rival groups trying to steel each others flock. Unlike Other countries this difference and haterde between different christain groups will become intense and bloody, the hatred between catholic and protestants in India though not known for hindus to see,is very visible for insiders.
I am completely not waiting for the day when Olympics will end yet again this year and again I will feel humiliated to see the medal's tally. Check out China 80G 92S 110B, USA 65G, 85S, 92B and our own India 0G 0S 1B G-Gold S-Silver B-Bronze
This article is good and timely, makes us think how we can make it better for ourselves and our country. Everyone trying divert the subject or trying to go after Francois personal life, hell with you.
Why would any politician think of long term goals that will be realized only after his death or when he's too old to enjoy?? And that too unlike these short term goals long term goals are subtle since it's spread over a much larger range so what satisfaction would he derive out of that???

You are a nobody who writes poor responses like this and if rediff didnt have this forum you would be even worse off. Gautier is at least somebody. What's more - he loves India genuinely. What does that say about you?

thank you for this information. His ideals are harms to India society. He was describing some good points initially, but at the end he showed his true colour and shortsightedness. Are we so poor to get educated by this scholar?. Does he think that he should teach us nationalism?
Its indeed a praise worthy article and i appreciate the writers effort in writing sch gud thoughts but taking the present indian scenerio do u thnk anybdy wll folow wat u said. Absolutely not. The conditons in india wth respect to economy ws very bad from last 300 years nd the mentalty vch has developd during ths period cnt be removed wth 5-10 years of economic growth. due to tht mentallty everybdy thnks to take advantage of ths oppurtunity nd grab as mch mony as thy cn. Bcoz no one knws wen tht period of wrse economy returns back.

Who are you exposing? Your infirmation makes me a proud Hindu. He is atleast not calling people from other religions non-believers and hell dwellers.
I liked your article except your bitterness towards chrisrtians. Why are you trying to mix religion and culture?.Do you know the border line between these two?You please try to separate these two things, then you are mind also will be cleaner and you will get more enlightened. Let People have their freedom to propagate their religion. So many christian schools are there in India. Do they try to convert. Are they not preaching and praying christain worships which other religion children listning or even take part. Please go and ask so many nonchristians studied in christian schools how much they learned about bible, christian songs, worships from such schools and were they forced participate in prayers or were they forced to convert.Nevertheles have they not participated? There may be so many tribals who might not have been exposed to any religion and religious methods. Hence such marginalised sections who are thinking stone and fire is God may get attracted God when they hear about established faiths. Now what to do for that? The solution is to go to tribals and teach them nonchristian religions. Is anyone taking such trouble to promote other religious scriptures and popular worship methods? Let us go to tribals and teach them and change them and help them for thier upliftment. In this respect i think the christain missioneries are doing a goo job

Telling truth dont not mean instigating people, Visesh as you are a christain can you tell can a hindu in India tell some thing as christains onpenly on national television say about hinduism to be a satanic cult, why because bible says so,why the bible says so because the God says so,why God says so because it is written in the Bible so circular logic.Lets says tommorow I start teaching christanity is a LIE(which it rightly is)by giving a logical explanation to all hindus including children, will the christain organisation and chrisatins object to it,or support it,after all it is my CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to tell the trurth, isnt it.

Visesh, you will be surprised by how much conversion activity the missionaries do. They are not interested in improving the lot of the poor but more in converting them. This has been acknowledged even by forward-thinking christians themselves. In fact the Episcopalians in LA have this last week apologized for the missionary activities in India and said that it is more important that existing christians become better christians than converting people. My mother has personally seen people who were told that if they did not convert they would not get into old-age homes run by missionaries. Let us also be honest and admit the nefarious activities of these missionaries in the Northeast.
Though, there is nothing new in this article, Mr. Gautier's feelings for India deserves apreciation. Let me highlight that in the US, there is a terminology called "the wild west" and it is dramatised in many movies, which depicts rampant lawlessness, violence and corruption and the period is late 19th century, which is marginally in excess of 100 years. Same was the situation in Europe as well - but that was 4/5 centuries back. But by mid 20th century, US got recognised as a super power and about 400 years ago Europe started to spread their wings over the entire world. If one analyses the reasons for this abrupt transformation, one will find that the reasons are wealth and education. In the initial stages, Europe got the money by looting the natural resources of other continents. But Christian missioneries contributed a lot in educating the populace, which was focussed on moral values. Wealth gave Europeans time for leisure and the Christian education created character. Nothin else is required when one has money and character. In the US, wealth was generated from agriculture like in many other civilisations and since their education system was borrowed from Europe which was based on Christian morality, the model of Europe was repeated there as well. In India, the wealth has just started to pour in. Education in the true sense will follow. But it will take more time because of our diversity, extent of poverty, corruption of older generation and population.
