RE:North indian beggars on rediff keep quiet

I dont understand why people are generalising when they talk about Maharashtra and Maharashtrians. There is some substance what Raj is asking. What is wrong in his saying get into to local culture when you are in Maharashtra. Go to Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal. 95% of the people speak in native language. Here in Mumbai why not others adopt to the local conditions. Remember Karnataka 10 - 15 years back. There is no insistence on Kannada. Taking a leap from Tamil Nadu, now look at Karanakataka and Kannada.
I think the issue is blown up by the media who are out and out to exploit for their own showmanship.
As regards absorbing locals, why not give importance to them. In any case this issue is labour orineted, because skilled jobs, I am sure even Maharashtrians prefer whoever they want and talented.

Sameer, do not show your frustation here as rediff is not in Maharashtra. Respect others so that one gets back respect.
The trouble with India is India got democratic rule on a platter . that is why they do not understand the responsibilities of the citizens of democracy. The western nations what ever you may say about them they worked very hard for and framed the laws together and abided by it strictly. There is 0 toerence for breaking law. In India laws are ment to be broken at every level. The reason is the GOVT and its politics. Deterioration of democracy started with Indira Gandhi. We are paying for it. We got democracy before people are educated or taught to respect laws and think logically. We are all ready to follow and fall at the feet of some saint like Sai baba or SriSri but have no respect for laws and rules.

Just a minor correction. The deterioration was a result of the "Middle Path" approach of Nehru for all the problems. What Mrs IG did was only utilise the political means left for this Country by Nehru.
See the outcome of MNS hooliganism. The stone they pelted towards a bus failed to distinguish between Marathi and Non-Marathi. It hit an "Innocent" person killing him. And he was a Marathi Manus" Who is responsible for this? A stone, a bullet, riot cannot distinguish between persons. Hence, please stop this distinction. Please understand RAJ is doing all this for POLITICAL MILEAGE and nothing else. He has not even gone to Jail but he sat in his AC Vehicle and went home happily without expressing a sympathy about the deceased. He will now sleep happily in his AC Room because he has now become Hera
