Maulana Nasiruddin Umar, a counselor and man of learning, who, in all his life, had never killed a sparrow, now, in execution of my order, slew with his sword fifteen idolatrous Hindus, who were his captives....on the great day of battle these 100,000 prisoners could not be left with the baggage, and that it would be entirely opposed to the rules of war to set these idolaters and enemies of Islam at liberty...no other course remained but that of making them all food for the sword.[35]

For all we know, these people would have been humane during their times otherwise they wouldn't have been such iconic figures.
All I wanted to say is, don't take things on face value. God has given you enough intelligence to read and comprehend things by yourself. As an individual, everyone has freedom to choose what he/she wants to believe and follow.
Any person who kills innocents without provocation is a TERRORIST. We are all for bringing them to the rule of the land. But what wouldn't help is generalized branding.
India has a great heart to forgive those misguided sons of the soil & also subcontinent. Give them a chance to build their future. There is no need to punish these people.
