Finally i See a Unanimosity among Indians
by Satyan Kamath on Feb 09, 2008 10:34 PM  Permalink

Thank you fellow Indians, though a few of you have commented here, but al have said the same words.
Baba was a Great Person. For him to follow the principles of Gandhi in a new era just denotes how great he was.

We still need more people like him who can think beyond their self, without any greed for money or worldly riches.

Very Very Sorry to see that not even 1% of the power controllers come even slightly close to his standards.

God knows when could Gandhi's dream of Rama Rajya could be fulfilled.

For your selfless services Oh departed soul
this is the way we express our respect to you

Dear Ninth Devil,

It is very clearly evident that you can never become a great soul.

So please for your peaceful demise control your stupidity and learn to behave, which unfortunately your parents havent thought you.

Dont Ape the Western World! Have your own sense of appreciation, you Indians!

Dont ape the Western World!
Have your own sense of appreciation, you Indians!

Indians are so self diffident in appreciating their own heroes/heroines that they wait for the Western World to recogninse and appreciate them first before they bestow their best honours!

Baba Amte is no less than Mother Teresa!
But Indians waited for the western world to give Nobel to Mother Teresa first and only then they awarded Bharat Ratna on her! Western world has its own vested interests. Do Indians have to wait for the western world to award Nobel to Baba Amte, so that they can give Bharat Ratna to him?et

Forget Vajpayee and others, Give Bharat Ratna to Baba Amte atleast now!

You are only honouring yourselves, by doing so!

No one matched the simplicity and the profound commitment the man had.It makes one wonder and an ispiring awe that a human being could be so great in the service of mankind. He is the bench mark against whom we have to scale the present day politicians. It is a shame on the country that he was not awarded the Bharath Ratna when he was alive. The least Indian government could have done as a responsible govt to reward hime-not that he needs that but no goodness should go unrecognised.

Isn't it ironic that the Central government did not find such unparalleled jewel of India worthy of this? They have year after year stopped awarding Bharat Ratna. Does it not show that they do not go beyond those who are in the limelight or whom the media highlight?

The last awards were during Vajpayee's tenure to Lata Mangeshkar, Bismillah Khan, and Amartya Sen.

Magsasay Award winner Baba Amte will remain the benchmark for selfless service. He is beyond any Nobel prize or Bharat Ratna.

We are unfortunate that we did not make use good use of such soul during his lifetime. Had his services been effectively used, and government supported whole heartedly, we could have made more progress in giving a humane life to leprosy patients and helped eradicate the disease.

absolutely agree with u. It's sad that our politicians have made the "Bharatratna" an exclusive award for their kind, when actually not a single politician is fit for the award in our view.Real ratna's like baba Amte get overlooked.

Baba Amte-the soul of the nation fades away..
by Sumit Mitra on Feb 09, 2008 09:29 PM  Permalink

Again this vast state of India has failed to identify the pillars on which it stands. It has ignored the eyes and ears that see and hear for it, its conscience and soul. We as a nation are so much poorer, directionless, blind and deaf to those clarion calls of humanity. In its loss we have lost that elusive human touch that accompanies development, that which the advanced nations are looking for.. They don't come across one easily and we tend to ignore when we have one.
Sumit.
