Yes, Mandela for his race and Gandhi not for his race !
Anyway, we are discussing Mu De Alias Baba Amte and he was devoted to curing of lepers and providing respectable habitation to socially/physically challenged individuals. His son Dr Prakash goes beyond Baba Amte's sacrifice, serving the tribals in the deep jungles of Hemalkasa. Ask me, sonny !

Nobel Prize dont deserves Gandhi. He is far apart from that. Only common men like Mandela can get that. Go to nobelprize.org and read why gandhi was not awarded the nobel prize.

It was the loss of the Nobel Prize committee that they could not give the Nobel peace prize to Gandhiji when he was alive.
It is a sad moment for me personally to learn about the demise of Dr Baba Amte.
I am one of the few fortunate individuals having spent most of my childhood in his presence. I am geatly inspired by his selfless attitude and the social upliftment of the leprosy patients and physically challenged individuals. The legacy continued through his his two sons (Dr Vikas Amte and Dr Prakash Amte) and two adopted daughters (Renuka and Bijlee).
Dr Baba Amte also set up Anand Niketan College for undergratuates in Science, Arts, Commerce college in 1964 and Agricultural college in the following year. The college churned out some of the brilliant students and went for great careers in the professional and scientific worlds.
My Father Mr Gopinath Roy was the founder Principal of the college and served the institution for 26 years. I was also an alumni of the same college before moving on to pursuing my career in Engineering at COEP.
I remember the remarks of Dr Baba Amte when my father expired in 2004, "Tuze wadil ek yogi hote (your dad was a saint). A saintly person only can talk about others which such such a respect and humility.

Because I hit rediff direct where it hurts (in the gullies) they have classed my posting as a abuse, what a farce. Truth always hurt, rediff. No skin off my nose you have read it that is what matters.
I was also one of the luky who have at least saw him 15 days back. His work in Anandwan is mission is enough to tell Geartenss. he was difinitely an saint and one of the greatest son of soil /india.
