Baba Amte was a great humanist, who provided solace to the poor adivasis and leprosy patients. I am really saddened to hear about his demise. It is also a great regret that our Government did not confer Bharat Ratna while he was alive (no matter, he will always remain at Bharat Ratna in the hearts of millions of our country-men). Conferring Bharat Ratna posthumously is of not much importance.
I would request the Government to confer Bharat Ratna at least to Mr. V. Kurien and Mr. M.S. Swamynathan while they are still alive.
rediff readers cannot accept that rediff cannot put his(baba amte) photo besides covering the news.rediff puts the photoes of all rich film stars and useless cricketers but not baba amte. very pathetic state of affairs

agree with you completely, but he was like a saint, he doesnt need approval or appreciation of any sort from commercial site like rediff. My condolances to his family who bravely are taking his work forward, living in tribal area all their lives - always staying away from limelight and awards.

its avialable on net dear, they should've looked for it. 1640 images on google search.
In India, unlike other theocratic states, you draw respect and praise from Hindus if you are apolitical and away from any visible religious identity. To a greater extent, Baba was both. He was a great human being and he remained simply that... such people do not make much news... Seculars have no grievances, Muslims have nothing to grieve upon, Hindus have no cribs... God bless such great souls...

Dear Kumar,
Prajapita Brahmakumaris is the largest net-work of NGO in the world. How many of us have heard abou them? Only the missionary charity work attracts attention due to hundreds of million dollars spent by them on advertisement itself!!!!!

Dear, Both are doing a great work to the human mankind in their own capacity and humility. We are nobody to compare them. It is only our responsibility to imitate them and do the same.
May god give peace to the departed soul. There are other means also to come to the lime light. baba Amte gave his entire life to serve the humans and this is why that people from every walk of life is sad on the demise of this great soul.
Fact and reality to learn from his doings is, you keep on doing the good works and one one day people will recognise you. Raj thakre should learn this.
We human always keep a distance from a leprosy patiant passing near us or hate to see them. But a man lived and served and died for them. A great human , a service no one can rendure but he did with great devotion.
Baba Amte was a great soul who worked tirelessly among the Leprosy Afflicted Persons. I remember an incident that happened when I was working in Mumbai. Nana Patekar, the fire brand actor, admires the Baba a lot and took every opportunity to help the cause for which he was working. Once Patekar told Baba that he would like to give up his acting career and join Baba in his great work. Baba told him that the work Patekar was doing by way of financial help was an equally important component and to continue to do so! I also remember that Nana Patekar never used to take money for himself for attending functions organized by commercial houses, but always asked them to give cheques in the name of Baba's institution. I have nothing against Bharat Ratna being conferred on Mother Teresa, but I feel that Baba Amte was also doing equally great work and should have also been recognized with the said award during his life time. Perhaps the fact that he is a Hindu and an Indian went against him!
Baba Amte is a true Bharat Ratna . He should be given the Bharat Ratna Award .he devoted his whole life for the upliftment of the downtroden. his two sons are also doing the same thing. Everyone has to contribute for this great cause .
It will be very black side in the history of our country that a welknown personality and a winne of Magsaysay award was treated in such a manner by the police and the wardboys.
We know the mentality of wardboys of the hospitals , they are brainless, but the Social Welfare Ministry is also blind or what? What Maneka Gandhi is doing when this incident was occurred? She is thinking for the welbeing of animals only. So , she must be treating human being as a dump animals or what? Shame on the part of our Ministry of Social Welfare.
