You are absolutely a useless moron and characterless. Baba Amte is a great man and might deserve Bharat Ratna, but you cannot denigrate Vajpayee just because of your innate animosity to him. Thus, it is also waste of time for you to make understand the achievements of Vajpayee who made India a politically powerful country in International community.

Vajpayee is a great leader, but I still don't think he should be a candidate for the highest civilian award. This is because, such honors are then abused by their associated political parties for political purposes and then the value of the recognition gets diluted in political propaganda. I'm sure being the Prime Minister was a honor appropriate enough for a leader like Vajpayee.

Does Bharat Ratna deserve him? Why equate him with the likes of selfish politicos who have received it over the years? He is one of the most respected social workers.
He went to Punjab all alone during the peak of militancy to persuade terrorists from taking up arms. Did anyone else have the courage or willpower to do that? He has no equals in our country.

Baba Amte was a great man but was he as great as people like Babasaheb Ambedkar, Vallabhai Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Babu??

Can you put him in the same league?? I don't think so...

A great inspiration that was Baba Amte
by Nagender Tadepally on Feb 09, 2008 07:31 PM  Permalink

I am indeed very saddend to learn of the passing away of Baba Amte who was, besides my parents, a source of great inspiration to dedicate myself to the service of the poor. I had the opportunity to be with him at a national camp he organised for youth in 1969 in Anandvan. His inspiration coupled with his simplicity and down to earth commitment and involvement has been my guiding light which was kept alive and continues to glow with my association with another great person - Michael Anthony Windey of the Village Reconstruction Organisation.

I pray for peace and that his soul may rest in peace and that his example will continue to inspire the youth of this country

by Para Mesh on Feb 09, 2008 03:50 PM  Permalink

It is a sad day for India. I have not much respect for most of the so called social activists in this land of ours. Baba Amte was one of the very few who was a beacon and an exemplar for every human on this planet on, how to live a life nobly.

May his life inspire more people to imbibe atleast a small percentage of his qualities.

Krishna reddy behaves likes this becas of his parents fault. His parents use to have s* ex in front of him. Anyway Krishna reddy has a place reserved in HELL.

Mr Thakur

Dont be abusive towards all south Indians.
Just for one Krishna reddy shall I say that all Southies are idiotic pompous as s es like him
Ok in that same breath shall I say all Northies are Bhaiyyas, wont you feel derogatory.
Why this southie/northie fight. Why do you forget you are Indian first
Just because one Krishna Reddy is an idiot dont blame entire southies. We are as much Indian as you.
How well do you know Bharathiyar, Periyar, Chidambaram Pillai (The first one to Start a Shipping company against the British orders), Rajaji and so on so forth whereas I know and read about most of the freedom fighters from the North incuding Baba Amte the warrior who fought hard to rid a society of its apathy towards leprosy people

Besides, the same message is being spammed. What is the moderation policy of rediff?
