One of the few genuine social activists and in fact a saint
by Anurag Agrawal on Feb 09, 2008 10:31 AM  Permalink

Baba amte is one of those few social workers who made a religion out of community service. The media however never highlighted his works the way it should have so that young people are inspired to follow his example.
He was truly a saint. the best tribute to him would be to follow his footsteps and do our bit for the community around us. a little contribution from our side made together would go a long way in bringing about significant change in the lives of the underprivileged.

RE:GIVE MAARHI RATNA TO BABA AMTE
by Ram Narayanan on Feb 09, 2008 10:40 AM  Permalink
Could you desist from spreading your hatred here. Stop bringing in your linguistic mindset and blind prejudice. This cheap attack on a great social worker is a pathetic act. It is not worth commenting on, but no one can keep quiet when unwarranted attacks are made on the departed soul. May God give you some awareness about the stature of Baba Amte.Till then, keep your hatred to yourself

May his soul RIP ... And its very sad that great men like him deserve more recognition and honour..We should not blame the govt for this ... I didnt see his name appearing anywhere when the media discussed about Man of the century, Indian of the decade etc etc... Once he departs all these stupid media will come out with ready made articles about him....I hate the fourth estate for these reasons....

My Hero
by Sreedhar on Feb 09, 2008 10:27 AM  Permalink

He lead the people with an example, a man of conviction and commitment. Such personalities are rare and required for the world today. We have lost a human with a heart. May his soul rest in peace and his life motivates scores of many to take forward his initiatives...

I have to disagree. It is you who are spreading hatred here with your narrow mindset and bringing in the issue of linguism. Please do not insult a great personality such as him. If you had done even one percent of the good work that he has done, you would realize his greatness. Do not let your hatred blind you and impact your judgement. May you be cured of your ignorance. All Indians irrespective of their differences stand together to mourn the passing of Baba Amte

My friend, this great man is far bigger than all kinds of awards. Baba Amte himself would not have worried about awards, and gone about doing his good work. If a few people get inspired to emulate him, that would be much more satisfying for him than any award in world. All said, it is India's loss, the loss of a great son of India.
