That is progress!
by Rohit Kanwar on Feb 07, 2008 11:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Ghatiland has indeed progressed tremendously over last couple of years.
Two years back number of farmers committing suicide in Vidarbha was a few hundreds. But now it has risen to several lakhs!
That is called progress!

this is not progress, if the no of people committing sucide decreases only then we can insinuate it as progress.

In Bundelkhand region of UP more than 10000 farmers committed suicide which is more than thrice in Vidarbha. Any comments?

And farmers suicide in MS is due to the natures fury, entire crops were wiped out due to excess rains during last 3 years, off coarse inefficiency of the local Govt in providing them assistance is equally responsible.

Reality Check
by PKN on Feb 07, 2008 11:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Ignore Raj Thackeray ! He is a desperate politician hunting for a vote bank that does not exist ! If he talks ignore him , if he acts put him behind bars !
But emerging from all this are key issues that each thinking person must address :
a)In the 1st fifty years this country staganated . Everyone was everyone's burden!
b) In the next ten years there was progress with vengence but unfortunatley much of that in pockets . Large tracts of this country was excluded because of regional realities - polite way of addresing people like Laloo Yadav , Jyoti Basu , Mulayam Singh Yadav who were committed to keep their states backward.
C. Logically people who were looking for a livlihood moved from those pathetic places to places of oppertunity .
d. Suddenly for those in more prosperous places such 'immigrants' became 'burdens' or 'freeloaders'. Totally absurd since most of them in reality made the prosperous more prosperous! Most of them contributed in very real terms.
Sadly the solution lies in a more equitable development and ensuring that the Amar Singhs, the Paswans and the Laloo Prasads are not allowed to destroy their states and create more exodus to other states!
Or there is another good option . Make Raj MMS come to power in Maharastra and he may destroy Mumbai and sent the Marathis seaching for jobs in Bihar and UP .

Bihar: Not allowed to cheat in exams, students go on rampage
by Surag Singh on Feb 07, 2008 11:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hundreds of law students in Bihar went on the rampage on Saturday after being denied the use of unfair means in their law examination.

Angry students, appearing for LLB part III, went on the rampage in Patna, Gaya and Sasaram districts, when they were not allowed to use unfair means in the examination.

What's up with HP?
by T D on Feb 07, 2008 11:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I was checking the indian state rankings on wikipedia and noticed that Himachal Pradesh seems to consistently stand out from most of the other north indian states. While UP and Bihar rank consistently at the bottom, HP ranks amongst the better developed south Indian states.

So, my question is what's up with HP? Have they suddenly become more industrialised?

UP and Bihar are bimaru because of Mayawati and other bikau politickas like Lalu, Muliyum, Paswan, Nitish and Soniya and her poniyas.

When i visited HP, tourism industry was the biggest industry there. They have invested a lot in tourism - guest houses, hotels, buses, and services - and they are gifted with natural beauty...
Locals are really sweet and helpful, adding to the experience there - which is what a tourist wants - and in turn which is what HP wants - more tourists.

Interesting. Though, if you look at typical tourist destination, they don't show the kind of all round development that HP's statistics seem to indicate. HP on the other hand is ranked 4th on literacy, which is not directly related to tourism. Someone is doing something right by its people. I'm not from HP but I'm happy for its people.

hahaha. Just because you are illetrate and don't know anything beyod your pond doesn't mean nothing exists outside of the pond.

Have you heard of these names:
Bhimsen Joshi
Kusumagraj (FYI he got Gyanpeeth)
Shivaji Savant
Babasaheb Purandare

And yes, we are proud of Dada Kondke and Tamasha Artists. Its better to be proud about these achievers than bragging about oneself who go begging around the country.

Get a reality check and see what the rest of the country think about you guys. Those great people that you have mentioned will be ashamed to be North Indians because of the culture that you guys practiced.

As a Ghati, I completely agree with your post. I can't think of a single Ghati who has contributed to Hindi literature. It is indeed a matter of shame, especially when north indian's have contributed to marathi, gujarati, telugu, kannada, tamil and malayalam literature.

Ghati's also have absolutely no contribution to social reform or India's freedom struggle. They have only been free loaders and did not even know that "freedom is our birthright". If you check Indian army's official website, there are no martyrs from Maharashtra; they can only talk about "talwars", but in reality they are just cowards, like frogs who have never ventured out of their well (Maharshtra). They have not even heard of Panipat!

Ghati's have no contribution to popular entertainment such as movies and sports. They can only do tamashaa.

They have no contribution to industry and their ventures with Toyota and Cummins are actually shams and shell companies for foreign interests.

Their understanding does not span beyond "aamchi mumbai". They have not produced any noteworthy scientists, entrepreneurs or CEO's of biggest bank in the world.

Good for nothing, Ghaati's! You should stop calling yourself Indians.
