Traffic Violations in Bangalore
by The Nationalist on Feb 07, 2008 06:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think we Indians are same across the country in violating traffic rules. I am in Bangalore and driving here is real tough job. Before anyone start accusing people from North India who have moved to the city, let me clarify that violators don't have class or community. There are car drivers driving on one ways, there are BMTC and private buses to Tamil Nadu stopping in the middle of the road, there are tractors moving slowly on right side of the road, there are trucks coming from opposite direction road on a one way and we can't call cab drivers and auto drivers traffic violators because it is their birth right. A woman journalist was beaten up by a auto driver because she refused to pay extra amount over the meter charge. Police are still unable to catch the auto driver. So Mr. Khanna we are as good or rather as bad as Delhiites in violating law.

Bangalore's traffic woes is more to do with pathetic infrastructure. I am a South Indian and have lived in Delhi for 2 years. Delhi has got pretty good infrastructure hence you won't experience such rash driving. I wonder how Delhi could have coped if it had got such a narrow roads as B'lore. Ten years back there were not many oneways and driving in Bangalore was pretty easy.

North vs South?
by Haramohan Ray on Feb 07, 2008 06:29 PM  Permalink

There is little need to launch a north-vs-south campaign. Yes, it is true that ostensibly it appears that violating common laws happen most noticeably in North India. Every time I travelled by train through North India, I have seen tecketless travellers, as well as those who do not hesitate to board reserved compartments and usurping the seats and berths of bona fide passengers. I have also seen bank officials demanding money for encashing Travellers' Cheques, and other such things. But it is foolish to try to eradicate such social evils by citing examples from other parts of the country, just as it is undesirable to try correcting your child by citing examples of others' children.

REDIFF IS BIASED JOURNALISM
by abhijeet singh on Feb 07, 2008 06:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

for last 4 days there has been tense situation in Bombay and rediff did not report any one of them. Today when Lt Guv of Delhi made a statement, rediff is the first one to decorate it at the top of its table. I RATE REDIFF AS THE MOST COMMUNAL SITE. REDIFF HAS AN ABSOLUTELY BIASED JOURNALISM

The passenger rail fare collection will have a big boost if the Governor's feeling is implemented. The Reserved Sleeper Births also will be available for the reserved ticket holder.
Highway Roadside shops, partly the system permits such violations. The Road should have shoulder roads leading to a separate place for parking vehicles and restuarants and Suvidhas to be maintained neat and clean. This should be planned properly by the Administrators after which they can inculcate the habit of correct way of useage of roads without encroachments. First lay the roads wide enough a three lane or four lane in each direction. If the opposite direction roads are separated sufficiently the road deviders will not be brocken by the nearby villagers or roadside shopfellows.
