REDIFF IS BIASED. ETHICLESS JOURNALISM
by abhijeet singh on Feb 07, 2008 06:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

for last 4 days there has been tense situation in Bombay and rediff did not report any one of them. Today when Lt Guv of Delhi made a statement, rediff is the first one to decorate it at the top of its table. I RATE REDIFF AS THE MOST COMMUNAL SITE. REDIFF HAS AN ABSOLUTELY BIASED JOURNALISM

100% correct. I too was wondering why there was any news regarding Mumbai violence. If all state people thinks like Raj thackrey what will happen to our nation.
Should we not ashamed to show our patriotism only during the cricket match???

When the need of the hour is to unite all indians, what point does khanna wanna prove by giving such statements in the media?

He is not talking against India. He conveyed that North Indians though educated they don't have minimum civic sense. I am staying in Delhi last 7 years I can see the difference btw North and South.

Anti north indian
by dilip vig on Feb 07, 2008 06:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is totally wrong to compare Mr Khanna's statement with Raj's statement.Mr Khanna is making a statement out of concern and comparing cultures in 2 different society. There is an intention from his side to improve the situation in North (which is a fact most of us agree)while Raj is trying to divide the society just to grab attention and save his political career.

thanks deepak shukla for supproting me.In the last few days I m realising that we are losing our perspectives very easily and we are very guillable. We tend to forget the real issue in emotions. Are we to blame the media- partly yes, but then God has given us brain to think too so noit correct to blame the media totally. Its time to focus on tasks in our hand and be accomodative of each and every Indian in any part of India.Just missing this aspect has resulted in we being ruled by the british for 150 years. We all acknowledege that we were a divided society and thus ruled by the british, but the fact is we are still divided and are very vulnerable to terror attacks.Wake up my country men...time to be united and love our fellow citizens...we owe it to one another

India is ruled from North
by Veja Biral on Feb 07, 2008 06:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Our national leaders and policy makers never bother to change this lawlessness culture in among common people in north, rather their party workers and associates are mostly lawbreakers. I am afraid that the south is also changing gradually, I guess, oneday whole of India will follow the culture north.

The laws are stupid.. north indians and south indians are not
by tomcat on Feb 07, 2008 06:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Forget North vs South etc..

If the laws of the country itself are so bad, illogical, oppressive and corruption-promoting, then there is no alternative for ordinary people like us..

For example, you cannot take your vehicle from one state to another in India without permissions, NOCs, and faaltu ke RTO ke documents and bribery.

1. It took me more documents, forms to fill and hassles to get my vehicle re-registered than getting a passport!!
2. Spending Rs 3000-5000 to re-register a 8-year old second hand vehicle that would not even fetch 15000 if I sell it. Nonsensical !
3. In Europe, you can buy a vehicle in France and drive it across the country or even across borders without NOCs and RTO permits. You can buy a car in Hamburg and drive it anywhere in Germany (Frankfurt or Dresden) legally without NOCs and RTO permits and registration taxes or octroi. The world is simplifying processes and scrapping redundant laws, while our hare-brained politicians continue to amend old ones with more and more clauses and create borders even between the states of India.

I fully agree with you; Specially, in Mumbai, if you even have every document of your vehicle from other state, the traffic police will ask for PUC otherwise a fine of Rs. 1000, which doesn't hold true for the vehicles registered within the same state. If a vehicle is purchased in India, NOC / Taxation should be uniform across the country and renewal of DL should be mandatory after say 5 / 10 years.

my horse bigger than yours!
by navdeep kumar on Feb 07, 2008 06:20 PM  Permalink

It is interesting to see how soon people jump to conclusions in "my horse is bigger than your horse" kind of discussions. nobody can claim that his or her city is the ultimate utopian society. truth is not hidden from anybody, but people do skew the facts to claim supremacy about whatever they have or belong to. in our esteemed country, whoever has the money and power can break the rules. "aam aadmi" is same every where, all concerned about his roti kapda and makaan. to generalise that all north/south/east/west indians are goons/holy men is the biggest idiotic thing which idiot can say about anybody. Mr. Khanna is a living example of that.

Minorities respect Minorities
by Manohar on Feb 07, 2008 06:19 PM  Permalink

The only people who take effort in learning local languages are people from linguistic states. That is Karnataka, AP, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra, Orissa, West Bengal. And also business communities like marwaris. These people know what it means to respecting the local cultures and learn the language over a period of time. Others, who are Hindi speakers, rarely make an effort to learn and respect local languages. I am sure this is something most people from linguistic state background will agree on.

There is no need to take excuse..we got to act individually
by Sivakumaran on Feb 07, 2008 06:19 PM  Permalink

There is no point in taking excuse. Check up everything: Go to any Railway reservation center / Govt. Offices in Delhi..you would see the spittings in all corners. Check the trains for the tickets, most case ticketless cases will be on North India, even the TTRs would not mind that. People will sit on you even if you are in reserved compartment. That is not the case is South India mostly. There may be very stray incidents. May be this is becuase of the culture or the way they have grown up. Not sure. There can be a lot of improvements in South India as well.

But if every one of us take care of simple things there can be a large improvements. As some one has said, the removal of corruption in the law enforcement agencies could change the heat on the users, in turn would make them abide better.

In the US, if a driver hits a person, he will have to pay a huge increase in his insurance premia over his life time. Is that the case in india??

Whatever we could change, let us do it now. Atleast start doing it now.
