Here stops my knowledge about geography, politics and history.

Someone please tell me where are these two countries?

2. North India
Please also tell me whether there are

India is just a remnant of British creation. Linguistic identities determine nationality everywhere. There will come a point when linguistic identities will be strained in several states of India leading to imminent division. Linguistic identity is the only real and ancient identity of people living in India. Not, race, religion or India. You will see in future.

Tum ek shaap ho is Society ke liye.

You need to change your Mind & Suggest you to pls go to Varanasi & take a Dip in Ganga River. You will get good Reception in Varanasi if you say that you are a Maharastrian. I have experienced it & you also do asap. Pls see the Acceptance of other state people in UP. UP meain Dum hain aur ye bat Baqwas nahin hain.

You and I will certainly die before that day, you traitor. You and your fallacies are fit for mental asylum. If linguistic unity was the criteria, America wouldn't have shot out of Great Britain.

Jai-Hind
by Ajay on Feb 07, 2008 12:30 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Raj Thakre and Bal Thakre are like p-igs. These people can sell their own mother to come in power. They have never done anything good for anyone. All they did is divide the people on name of caste, religion and region and get vote. This time they are befooling marathies. Making other Indians to hate Marathies because they are using marathies for their cheap goals.

It would be far better if these people can do something to make Marathi people better so that they can compete with non-Maharashtrians rather than pulling leg who are doing better. This is no way to show their frustration. Raj thakre and their people are doing same thing against north Indian that is done in Islamic world against USA and Eurpore.

Diversity is always good. Otherwise Maharashtra will be like some Afghanistan or Pakistan where people from other belief are killed or ill-treated.

Raj Thakre and Bal Thakre want to make Maharashtra another Pakistan.

Jai-hind.

Each linguistic state in India is a nation in itself. That is the reality. Just like nations in European Union. Overtly changing the demographic makeup of any linguistic state will arouse passions. That is what is happening the case of Maharashtra.

Linguistic states aren't like European nations. And no one is overtly changing the demographics overnight it is the transformation of cities over centuries. Do you mean to say only maharashtrians resided when there Mumbai was discovered?

Remember, Maharashtrians refrained from entering Mumbai for the fear of mosquitos(barring the kolis who ere aborigins of that place) when British and Parsis entered.

Sure they do. I have never said you cannot have freedom of movement. But that has to be predicated with the fact that there is a limit. When the constitution said freedom of movement, it implied that all states would be governed reasonably well. Well this assumption is getting busted because UP and bihar have not been governed well for the last 30-40 years while the center has been blinded to this tragedy. In return what is happening is the mass migration of UP'ites and Bihari's to other places namely maharashtra. Why should the marathi folks pay for the non-governance in UP and Bihar.

People should understand that underdevelopment in UP and Bihar is a national issue and not just a regional issue. State government is alone not responsible. Certain issues like flood has to be taken up by center because it involves inter-state and international boundaries. Flood is the biggest problem of Bihar.

what do all those people who support regionalism (which is so overt in Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Maharasthra, and now Hyderabad) have to say about the ill treatment meted out to the Indians abroad.....if u think that people from less developed states shouldnt come to Maharashtra or else they should adopt Maharsthrian culture and not be loyal to the native places (read states)then what do u have to say about celebrating Indian Independence Day and observing Indian festivals by Indians settled abroad?According to Mr Raj Thakeray that is also a "natak" by Indians in America or England or Australia, etc.All those people having relatives abroad and still supporting regionalism in India ...what will u do if America attacks India...will u ask ur relatives to be loyal to America and join the American forces against India ..grow up people....there are lots of serious issues before the nation which need attention ....by the people and the politicians

India need to be a Federal country
by Konkan Putra on Feb 07, 2008 12:18 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India needs to adopt the federal structure, where the 5 key constituencies
of Defense, Finance, Foreign affairs, Space Research and Atomic Energy handled by the Central Government.

All the rest including URBAN AFFAIRS, RAILWAYS, TRADE, INDUSTRY, COMMERCE and IT the states can induvidually handle according to their own merit.

All the hue and cry come from backword states whose state governments and politicians are themselves responsible for their own neglect, and to cover their own failures they have to critisize people and governments of the developed states.

Therefore in India there are 2 groups here :- developed states of Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Gujrath, Delhi, Hariyana, Punjab and also Himachal .

That leaves the BIMARU - Cow belt states who have themselves to do the retrospection. uncontrolled and excessive migration to Mumbai needs to be controlled. The cities saturation point has already arrived. It cannot take any more people. We in Mumbai are 2 crore in a city designed only for 1 crore. DOES ANYONE UNDERSTAND THAT???

CHALLENGE....
by Babul Roy on Feb 06, 2008 11:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Looking at the issues of Mumbai and Marathi, I challenge to have an open debate at Shivaji Park grounds against any politician. I am a naturalised Maharashtrian and can speak/read/write better Marathi than any local.

The issues faced every day by a common Mumbaikar are :

01) Water availability

02) Hygienic living conditions and

03) Comfortable commute

Any other issue is ridiculous. Mumbai has equal job opportunities, space to live and courage to unite. If one is a politician - irrespective of whether in power or poosition - I would like to know, what the person has done with his own hands. Dividing people is easy, I can do it with my oratory skills.

If there are 10 trainloads of bhaiyyas coming in every day, where do you think the water is going to come from to feed the population? This applies to all the resources needed for the city.
The basic problem is the failed states of UP and Bihar. The result is the en-masse migration to Mumbai. And how do you propose we handle them, give them our homes and land and start speaking the bhaiyya language?
