IS HINDUISM COMPATIBLE WITH THE AGE OF SCIENCE?
by on Feb 04, 2008 05:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Is there any historically documented evidence to prove that Rama ruled India? Can any of the so-called Brahmin scholars quote any Western historian to support them? For example where is Hanuman's bridge today? Is the moon on top of the Himalayas? Can immorality be identified with religion?
The Puranas and Vedas state that a true Brahmin should not cross the sea and that is the reason behind Rama asking Hanuman to build a bridge to Sri Lanka. But today Brahmins not only cross the sea but they are working as airline pilots etc. The Achariyas (Brahmin priests) have now passed a resolution saying that the egg is a vegetable food and therefore may be eaten by Hindus. Bengali Brahmins are already eating fish claiming that it is a water flower.
Brahmin women are not only remarrying, but they are also marrying men from other castes. Thanks to reformist like Dr. Ambedkar, E.V.'R. Preriar, Lord Pending and Dr. Ramdas, many low-caste Hindus have now become administers, scientists and even priests.
To know more about Hinduism, please read the Vedas and Puranas with an unbiased mind. Before long, you will see a big difference in the way that you view the Hindu religion.

These People themselves do not know what is Hinduism.
There is no one hindu who is practicing Hinduism.
Vedas are ignored. Teachings of Upanishads ignored.
Vedic language samskrutham is no where.
No one knows sanathan dharm.
One man one wife system existing.
20% of hindus only practicing vegetarianism.
80% alchoholism.
Drunkards and gambler are temple governers
Men who dont know sanskrit are doing poojas in temples.
People are praying to deformed idols. E.g. Guruvayur temple idol, shivling of Himalayas
Most of the east and north east areas are converting to Christianity.
You have to amend the code of conduct of shankaracharyas.

aceventura, people like you are the main reason for the intolerance. Though I do not believe in the dogmas of any religion, I would say hinduism is dynamic enough to change witht the times.

The hindus do not swear by "one book" nor do they have to obey the dictates of any religious leader.

Hinduism is dynamic enough to change with the times.

And you people are just ridiculing your own ancestors when you write such things against of native culture.

Neither the Muslims came from West Asia nor the Christians came from Euorpe. The present day Muslims and Christians in India are the decendants of those converted at one point or other in history for various reasons.

Mr. Ismail, the portion you posted is from Gods, Demons and Spirits by world renowned rationalist, the late Dr. A.T. Kovoor and I have an original copy of this book in my personal library. I consider him as by Guru.

As an atheist, I question the superstitions in all faiths. You have seen the messages posted by an article on Rediff written by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Why are we fighting in the name of non-existent gods and so-called holy books created by surrealistic visionaries? The Islamic Paradise existed only in the fertile imagination of Moahmmed. Don't blow yourself up in the hope of getting those rewards in the "life here-after" nor harm others!

Life on planet earth is the only thing known to us. Enjoy the same to the extent possible, without creating any problem for others.

If it helps in anyway, I, as a muslim would like to say that - Islam is the the only religion that made sense and worked for me. Other religions were difficult for my limited intellect to grasp. And I do not doubt the sincerity of those who follow other religions. I do not doubt that they derive spiritual benefit from it. I have seen it in sincere Hindus, Christians and Buddhists. Heck, I have also seen sincere athiests whose spirituality I do not doubt. Spirituality, for me, is about the integrity of the human being as a whole - his conscience, intentions, words and actions. I do not measure spirituality from words alone. I will also add that the greatest trails of being a muslim for me have been the attitude of muslims themselves.

I hope the above helps a little bit in creating some room in your mind to accomodate a feeble good opinion of a muslim when you encounter one in your life. At the end of all this discussion, what I pray for is that we do not harbour ill feelings by default against adherents of another faith. To me, that is of utmost importance than what one thinks of islam.

even JGN has the same freedom of expression to express hhis views ..he believes ih atheism ..that fits him ....he is happy ..

if Islam fits u ,be sure that u stay as a satisfied person ..

problem arises when MUSLIMS pronounce that "only islam is true and others are false " ....

remember, every one loves their religion and will have their own ideology ..

GOD DOESN"T have RELGIONS .....

believe in humanity, love and affeftion ...u will
discover GOD ....

but when u go to other RELGIOUS person and say his faith is WRONG ..there arise the problem ....

stay contented and satisfied ..

Dear Ismail Sayyed, I am not against the followers of any religion. People like me question only the superstitions. If you think rationally, you will also understand the meaning of what I am saying.

Pl visit the web of "Actual Freedom - the third alternative" This is an alternative to organized religions.

Organized religion is organized madness. And make no mistake, it is easy to instigatte people in the name of religion, than anything else! That is the main reason for my opposition to the religions.

Tell me why u have never criticised Sangh parivaar activities..
What are your views regarding the Modi-sponsored genocide of Muslims in Gujarat in response to the Godhra carnage?

Marginalizing such a Big Community is The Root cause of Terrorism..
It is worse than anything else..
What an Irony !!
Largest Number of Muslim are in India & They are subjugated to daily racial abuse..
They always have to prove their Patriotism..
Is these Not Terrorism..
My Dear,Such Heinous act will prove very costly in the near Future..

Ismail Sayyed, you have seen the messages posted by me on "Lessons from Pakistan" (another discussion board on Rediff) where I have questioned the hindu faiths and the right-wing hindu parties also.

You are not able to fully grasp the meaning of my messages and that is one reason for your mis-understanding.

I do not have any quarrel with the believers. Restrict that to the four walls of your house or to respective places of worship.

JGN,Who are you to decide on the fate on Muslims & Islam.. My Friend if you want to live in Peace, Let the other community live in Peace as well, since the Demolition of Babri Masjid, Muslims of India have been facing a lot of injustice, the list is very big. Your statements are very biased & are only meant to promote hatred in the indian community. Please Promotes Peace

It is disheartening to see people spewing abuses on each other's religion and one trying to prove one's religion as Holier than Thou. Dear Friends, it is a high time we do away with our parochial mindset and be sensitive towards all religions and be tolerant. This could reduce the spate of communal violence.

I have seen the same message posted by you earlier also. It is the duty of rationalists like me to make our fellow citizens aware of superstitions. We would be happy if alteast one person, out of hundreds reading this message board get convinced.

It was not the demolition of Babri Masjid, but the success of Islamic Revolution ( ? ) in Iran that fostered teh Islamic terrorism the world over. Now the genie is out of the bottle and it is very difficult to contain the same!!!! And if you cannot tolerace criticism for your fatih, do not ridicule other faiths also.
