Let us try to be rational. Nehru disliked the Bong snd Madrasis. He got SPMukharjee and Rajiji isoloated by playing the topiwala politices thereby causing major loss to the country. Then we have colour prejudice of Mehru, under which the Punjabis were treated superiod to Bongs - though both were displaced from the newly created Pakistan.
Also there is a major cultural difference between the North and the South India. A Mahar, a Gujju, or a south Indian is less crim prone that a UP walan or Punj. The real issue however, is the relocated people. When one lives witin one's community, his own community that has known him since childhood puts a checks on any axcesses. Whenpeople relocate and move away fromtheir own community thsi community check is no longer there and in the new place of residecne tghey are able to carryon their activities, even if some crimial and violations are involved. It is thsu not only Mumbai, Bagalore is also already a victim of the migrent class of fortune seekers. Soon, Pune and Hyderabad also will join this category.
What we need to do is to check the criminal elements among the migrants. 'Musafiri' is an old offical record during he British time or even before, where a record each and every person entering a town is kept. Thiks could considerable check the growthj of criminal elements among the migrents and th resultant counter crimes

such emotions arise in india becuase of two reasons. Language and tradition. If outside state people settle in a city like mumbai, they r supposed to learn marathi and respect marathi festivals and they should absorb the marathi way of life in their . Not that they manage with hindi and define non marathi life style in terms of festivals and traditions and impose them on local people.Otherwise such incidents will be repeated. Indians in USA absorb the american lifestyle but does not ask americans to learn hindi or telugu or tamil.EVen though passport is not reqd india is like many small countries and every region has it's own language and culture. And this diveristy WITH unity is our remarkable strength, the beauty of this wonderful country India.

Bloody rascal do you know the meaning of patriotic indian. Mumbai is not anybdy's property and Mumbai is not because of Maharashtrians but due to the contribution of every indian and even from all parts of the world. What the patriotic raj thak has done for Mumbai, for maharashtra, for the country. he got enormous wealth through his gundaism. what is his credibility, he even not a corporator, what is his income, his father was a poor man, not even like balasaheb (he earned wealth through goons).

Dear LUNGIDEVAN, apply that own rule to your lungi states too who are trying to throttle each other's throats over River Water Issues. They conveniently solicit their own fights as patriotic but downgrade other state's issues as hooliganism. Hypocrites!

Vanakkam! Eppidirikinge. Well I am not a maharashtrian! I am not north indian too.i said such incidents will be repeated in so called cosmopolitan cities if local culture and traditions r not respected. Hyderabad, chennai bangalore and culcutta have similar feelings. and Vasudevan please mind your language.
