RE:Sack Chief of Naval Staff : Recover cost of purchase from his salary

If you had to recover the cost from the salaries, it wouldnt be enough even if the entire naval personnel paid all their salaries.
I understand that Jalashwa has been acquired for Tsunami, Cyclonic, floods etc type situations. It has a huge carrying capacity and also has large helocopters and Landing craft. It is ideal for these situstions and not for war. what has happened is unfortunate.

Yes Jalashwa has been acquired for Tsunami type situations and has already been used to deliver rice etc to bangladesh which went through a cyclone
1) If at all some area has H2S presence, it is preventable accident. Use of H2S detectors are a must in enclosed areas , suspected to be having H2S. 2) What was safety guy doing, how PTW ( Permit to work )was issued without acertaining any closed area is fit for Human entry or Not. 3) Working in Hazardous areas with Known H2S presence is a routine job in Oil & Gas industry.
4)But I wonder how a Navel Vessel got H2S, as they use Navel Grade Diesel and it is so low on Sulphur / H2S that such happening are not expected. 5) It is hard to believe that some one will die due to H2S inhalation on a Navel vessel ???
common knowledge - hydrogen sulfide stinks. stinks really bad - rotten eggs. every educated engineer/technician knows that. and also that is is poisonous. i bet these people are cooking up this story and they will change is in two hours. now they will set up an 'enquiry commision' which will submit its report in 5 years. there will be more cover ups along the way. ultimately it will be classified as a freak accident. classic indian political/bureaucratic sh*t. human life doesnt mean anything...

Since H2S attacks nervous system , after some time of H2S exposure, person looses sense of smelling H2S as rotton eggs so he/she keeps smelling it till death, without knowledge of its presence. So it is a must to identify H2S prone areas and take H2S detector and keep it ON while working in enclosed areas.
Normally Defence system takes care of its personnel than any of the known organisations. This incident is unfortunate and certainly Authorities will come out with reason for mishap. Also, hope they will amend SOPs to take of this shortfalls if any. As of now, no separate judicial enquiry is required. NAVY will conduct fair Court of Enquiry and will record findings. At this juncture, we responsible people should not add salt on injury by stating ' no officer is dead'. Soldier means everybody.

Just because the system takes crae of the dead does it mean that we should not know as to what actually happened. How long will our armed forces hide under the national security and secrecy. I amsure that by the time the inquiry is over the Captain will get his Promotion along with his Chief Engineer . In any case I am sure they must be busy trying to cook up stories to show how hard they tried. Also the fact is that ONLY sailors died and Officers who are suppossed TO LEAD FROM FRONT did not. Noone is adding salt to injury. It is only FACTS

Are you from Defence Forces? by your reply you cannot be one.Accidents happen on roads also and people die. This is an unfortunate aaccident which has happenned on board Jalashwa, doesnt mean the people responsible were sleeping or as you say were hiding.History of the Armed Forces reflects the LEADING FROM THE FRONT ethos of our brave leaders and there are enough examples to support what I mean "FACTS".And lastly those who are in this buisness wont hide behind as you call them secrecy, they have to answer to the men under command.HAVE FAITH IN YOUR ARMED FORCES.
Which ever party comes to power in the centre they spend crores of rupees for Indian defence competing with Pakistan and USA to pile up the weapons but they cant give sufficient safety and protection to these victims.India always eyes on high funda things to compete with USA like sending man to moon, nuclear explosions in Rajasthan etc etc but dont spending much or not giving much interest to simple things or to improve common man,s life like better and clean roads, electricity, water supply to all villages of India etc etc.Shame India shame to all political parties of India. Its better British come back and rule India.
Why we are using second hand milatry equipment, hence we can make a new one or bye a new one ,bcoz perhaps some of the corrupted politicans are doing this the US will utilised the same money which we had gave them while purchasing US trenton now ins jalshava to fight with other country or perhaps we will the other one when we will against thier pressure(i,e like iraq and iran ),
The reason told me a lie to coverup the issue. Or It may be true . Anyhow, It's a Question of life. Soldiers die for the country in Battle Field is different and losing life due to lack of safety precaution is different. It could have been avoided if proper safety precautions were in place. Harish
