Young Minds Are Vulnerable
by Kris iyer on Aug 21, 2008 08:58 PM  Permalink

Young people are easily influenced by Bollywood, visual media, video games, a "gun culture" "sex and violence" and so on.
1) "Eve-teasing" - Many think that Bollywood's portrayal of "romance" may be partly responsible for the problem of "eve-teasing" in India.
2)Social workers and the police know of hundreds of cases in India where young boys and girls "elope" with each other without telling their parents or relations.
They do not realise that "romance" is easy before sex and marriage. But it is NOT the same AFTER marriage and AFTER sexual curiosity is satisfied.
Bol.wd., never portrays the complexities in MAN-WOMAN relationships. Young women are portrayed wrongly as "flowers" that a man can pluck for his sole enjoyment.
3) Our ancestors saw LOVE as going beyond just "fancy chatting" and "sex". While they recognised "physical chemistry" arising from "looks" and "smiles", they did not think those alone would ensure a LONG-LASTING marriage. But Bol.wd perpetuates the MYTH that gorgeous looks alone is enough for a great marriage and great sex.
Believe me, even Vatsyayana, the author of Kamasutra, did not believe that.
4) LOVE becomes stronger when there is SINCERETY, HONESTY and FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY on the part of the husband and wife. A spendthrift husband or wife will undermine LOVE.
5) Men who smoke must know that by age 50 their "libido" will die very fast. To their wives, they will be useless in bed.
But Bol.wd encourages smoking.
A.Ramdoss, is RIGHT.

Today we live in age of Angreji Taliban. If you know English you are considered educated person otherwise Angreji terrorist will term you as illiterate and uneducated. It doesn't matter what qualities and skill you have.

Salute to Ananthamurthy-ji.

right. For this we must encourage people to sign in their own scripts, use state language for most of the local office work, including banks, courts etc. Ban English medium schools by amending the Constitution, but teach English from say class III compulsorily.

bollywood is not complete indian cinema
by nitugopal on Aug 21, 2008 10:22 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

sorry i think your point of view is incoreect.bollywood doesnt produce quality cinema like other language movies.it always portrays a guy falls in love for a girl or any family drama or romantic comedy...take southindian movies ,u have number of talented actors.no bollywood stars can reproduce shivaji, mohanlal, kamal's acting.bollywood heroes doesnt experiment with stories.they are famous bcoz of the bias shown towards north indians.it may have taken indian cimea to the world, but its due to politics.no one recognizes the talent of other regional languages.

I agree that mohanlal and kamal are extremely talented. But how can u ignore Aamir khan from bollywood? He's as good as any of these 2.Moreover his Lagaan was the only Indian movie ever to have reached the top 5 in Oscars. There are other class actors like naseeruddin shah, ompuri and others who had to come out of art films because of non-visibilty and join the commercial bandwagon

U know what...Mrinal sen once said Malayalam movies are the best in India. But how many would want to watch them without sub-titles or a dubbed version in Hindi? why was sivaji released in the north in Tamil without being either dubbed in Hindi or without sub-titles?

Hello FRiends I myself am a pass out of IIT-Roorkee 98 Batch.Lots of my friends have qualified in IIMs as well. Here's my opinion. All top graded engineering and MBA institues in India are government owned. So there is bound to be a creep of babudom and lethargy and lack of innovation. But mind u the companies that come for placements have their eyes fixed on 'Bright' minds. The fact that these students have qualified a tough all india entrance exam makes them the best choice. The quality of education takes back seat.

But one of the greatest puzzling things I have noted is the selection process of MBA Institutes.Theres is a lot of talk about time management in CAT and other entrance papaers but its actually quite a test of the mental agility and quickness in problem solving. No wonder majority of people who crack cat written test are people from IITs.But thats unfair because good technicians are not necessarily good potential managers.

Crying babies like you are ignoring the fact that so called "red tape" produced great scientists like Shri Kalam, Dr Bhabha etc.

The most easiest thing is target government and politicians so we can avoid our own responsibility.

is it so challenging??
by True Voice on Aug 21, 2008 09:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

IIMs and IITs are doing any challenging job? Are they taking raw minds, re-furbish and place?? Noooo.. not at all. They get elite and creamy ones by default. These crowd develop by themself without any guidance and get placed. Most of these elite institutions are gravely affected with internal politics between director and other heads, discrimination being reserved category employees and fund mishandling. Whereas there are many B Schools - not so hyped or recognized, admit raw students, mould them properly and place them with fairly good salary. WHICH IS MORE APPRECIATED???? Pls Commend..

The students from B rung MBA schools at one or two levels lower than IIM grads in the same organisation. They typically never catch up with IIM grads. All this talk that these non-hyped schools have somehow a better faculty and methodology compared to an IIM / XLRI or ISB is complete hogwash. During a recession like - NOW - most of the students from B grade B schools have a dark future.
